Hi Reena, Just some simple suggestions, you may have thought of these already. I think in Dubai you have one basic possibility to learn stitching. There are a lot of migrant tailors (especially women) from Kerala, North India etc in Dubai. Some of them will definitely be willing to give you lessons. Or did you try the Singer showrooms in Dubai? In India they have a structured tailoring course with certificates on completion. If you know basics, you can also remove stitches on a well fitting salwar suit and try to make a template on paper. regards Vidya

It is great to be able to make one's own clothes, if possible. I never had the patience for it. But it is a boon, especially if you are living abroad and cannot have the luxury of personally tailored clothes. Some of my saris are set aside because they do not have matching blouses. Vidya's idea is great-- to remove stitches of a salwar suit and make a template. Actually, you can also use a simple straight cut trousers instead of a salwar. The kameez is something you have to make yourself. Give it a try. Best of luck:) L, Kamla

dear Reena, I stitch my dresses as per the method Vidya has suggested. Completely take apart a blouse or salwar and iron it well. Then make a dress ad see if fits. You can make necessary alterations consequently. I learnt like that only. In the meantime, I shall prepare a drawing for salwar and send it to you. Please PM me you e mail id. I hope I shall be able to help you. With warm wishes, varloo
