O wow Manjureddy...

That was some analysis of the anticlockwise clock syndrome! I simply do not know how you do it:) I just love reading what you write

You should contribute more regularly in IL and may be one day we can have a sub forum for you????? I am serious, do consider that. It is another matter that I had to grab the dictionary to grasp some word usage No problems, improves my vocabulary, after all.......

Came here from FP thread.....and enjoyed immensely.

L, Kamla

( I know I know Sridhar......am invading your thread all the time...Sorry

Hai,
I was just aboutreading the replies to the story and am really happy to read all the posts.
Sridhar, you have started a nice debate and TDU has given it enough spice. Then comes the others with their comments and totally this is a very informative piece. It is very healthy to place our views, however contradictory they may be, and discuss in a nice manner. This brings out many new ideas and information for all. This was a really good discussion.
And finally, all agreed to disagree.
Dear TDU,
you might be shocked to know that India is fast changing. Recently, a friend lamented that one of her nieces was wearing an off shoulder blouse on the nichayathartham(eve of the wedding). This in a Sounth Indian Brahmin middle class family. And the bride just had a smart short hair cut- no jadai or long plait and flowers, even for the sake of the elders. And many other married girls were in a gagra choli attire which showed their midriff and the duppatta was just draped on the arm. One has to see to believe. Young things look down upon people in salwar kameez with dupatta.
And we read about live in relationships, gar and lesbian marriages almost on a daily basis. The tv channels made a circus of such a lesbian couple very recently, reporting their every move and the girls and their family were shown on the tv also. This happened not in the city but a remote place in North India. Many famous personalities are raising their voices in support of such different people.
This is as just a piece of information only. Please remember that everyone is free to have opinions of their own. I respect your views very much.
To quote someone (I forgot who said it and hope I have quoted without mistake),
"I strongly oppose your view, but I will give my everything to protect your freedom of expression".

Dear Gayathri and Kamla,
Thank you for your kind words.
The world goes on regardless of what one thinks about the changes ; as they say, the one thing that is constant in this whirling world is Change itself. Patterns of life and living go on changing inexorably and what we call " traditions" are demolished and redesigned almost everyday. Everything comes in multi- packs of Good, Bad and Ugly. Its not as though we can cut ourselves off this world and take to a forest hermitage whenever we find a development indigestible. We digest everything, with a spoonful of Eno's salt maybe, but digest we do, eventually ! Because humans are survivors - survivors who learn their own , individual mechanism of coping ; and their own truths.

In the meantime, we have a wonderful forum here ! Each one of us can climb on our personal soapbox podium and merrily shoot off whatever thought enters the head as soon as we log in. As Varloo has rightly pointed out, we can all agree to disagree yet defend each others' right to express opinion. If we dont like some turn the world is taking, we can at least find relief by letting off steam ( hot air?!) here - an exercise impossible in the real world where real people can wield real rotten -eggs (and worse.) ! So, IL ki Jai !
Borrowing Vidya24's endearing sentiment : its group -hug time folks !

Dear varloo,

I am aware of what is happening in India. I have friends and relatives virtually across the length and breadth of the country. I am proud that my wife as a lawyer is fighting for the upliftment of Indian women. I do follow Indian news and happenings through news papers, magazines thanks to the fact that many have become e-papers, e-magazines etc. You have omitted girls' smoking and drinking alcohol which were not there before. My whole argument was against Mr. varalotti's eulogising (as manjula has put it) these homo-sexuality, lesbionism etc. just because there is prostitution, sati practiced by males and his making out this as an issue of women's liberty or equality. I still say strongly, 'One wrong thing cannot be undone by another wrong thing'

Your quotation, "I strongly oppose your view, but I will give my everything to protect your freedom of expression" brings to my mind the dialogue in 'Veera Paandiya Kattabomman' movie where the British (Javar Seetharaman) telling Kattabomman, ' If we are to kill a dog still we will kill it by the rule of the law'.

My new quotation to yours is ' I strongly oppose your view in spite of being an isolated male member in a predominantly female forum and I thank your generosity in giving me my freedom of expression'.

Regards,

TDU

P.S: I feel that I have been misunderstood by many in this forum. When I argue against homo-sexuality and lesbionism, I am not advocating that people who have fallen prey to these practices should be shunned. All I want is that these practices should not become contagious.

Regards,

TDU

Dear TDU,
you are not alone, many will be with you, I am sure. And being a male member does not make you stand alone. Many women also feel like you do. I too cannot understand such things, why they happen and why some people have such feelings. But with others explaining about the science of it, at least we have to let it be. And lesbianism is not women's lib. Women should also understand this and truly work for the upliftment in all other positive aspects of life. Please do not feel lonely, there are many with you.

Default Seek Your Wishes and Blessings!

Most Gracious ILites,
I have now learnt that Satan Quoting the Vedas is quite amusing to all of you and thanks for the response.
But ladies, will you care to have one more date with the Satan? Just one more? Read the latest Wednesday thread if you will.

This post and SHE 18, the final episode of the controversial serial will be my last posts before I travel halfway across the globe for professional work and stay there for two months. But I assure you that I will take steps to ensure that you do not feel the difference.

Now ladies apart from responding to the new Satan Thread, I want you to wish me and bless me for a hassle-free overseal travel and a fulfilling time over there.

With Love To All,

Dear Varalotti
Hmmmmmm read the fbs of this episode very interesting, it was interesting to read for and against of this episode. I was really smiling at some of the fbs.
You have answered it so well taking into consideration each and every point, it is a story just to broaden our minds. I don't think it should be taken so seriously.
It is something to think about, would you get the same replies in case if you had given the names like Susan or Jennyjust wondering.
Your reply to some people was greatespecially the last para in TDU's reply.
What kamla said is true all this is very common outside India but equally true it is even within India especially in the metro cities.
Even in the reply to Rashi it is right, today politicians, corruptions, criminals........ has corrupted the society and it is these weaker people who have been targetted..........Why only the Lesbians????????????
I liked the way Malathijagan has put up her reply...............
Not bad there was a real deeshum deeshum going on in this episode..........I think if such debate doesn't go on there is no fun, if everyone comes out with good opinion.............difference in opinion is equally important.
It is true that many such things are happening which we don't like in todays world but what can one person do?????/
Thanks Varalotti for asking me to go through this episode again. I know I was late in reading and repling. I think it was worth reading it.

Dear Aruna,

thanks for the elaborate fb on this most controversial episode of a most controversial story.

In fact TDU later went on to delete all his posts in which he had raised questions against me. Some of my posts therefore might look like unprovoked responses.

Never have I advocated lesbianism as an alternative life-style.

But I am against condemning them simply because they are different.

I got the ultimate wisdom in this area only when I was translating Osho's, The Book Of Man. There he says that same-sex relationship is just a phase in the sexual growth of an individual. While many have crossed through that, lesbians and homos are just stuck there.

So making fun of them will be as cruel as making fun of a child which has failed in 9th standard. They need our understanding. If we cant give them, the least we should give them is sympathy.

thanks for the time Aruna.
regards,

Dear Sridhar,

still racing to beat the deadline of finishing SHE by tomoroow night.

I was very impressed by these lines. How true!!

“In the same way you will meet some people in the world who might not conform to the conventional pattern. That doesn’t make them defective. It only makes them different. And so long as they do their work, as the clock tells the time, we have no business to mess up with them. We should not only live but also let them live.

Had to skip reading the FB's due to time restraints.
