Tailoring class

Dear ladies.
I always wanted to learn tailoring, i'm reiding at asho pillar, can anyone suggest me place where i can learn tailoring n embroidery. In tailoring i want to learn stitching salwars, skirts, like Aline skirts, tops, frocks. plz suggest some good places

There is one Usha Sewing School on mount road. They offer courses of 3 months and 6 months. 3 months course covers only the ladies garments. 6 months course covers both ladies and gents garments. This is right next to the Mahindra Showroom on mount road. You can get in touch with them.

I am Anu from UK. Any suggestions on any dvds or books on learning how to measure cut and stitch saree blouses, salwar, kameez, churidar, patiala salwar for beginners?

It is very expensive to get indian clothes stitched in the uk, so I am keen to learn and do it myself but I need help as I am a complete beginner.

Pls help if you can.

Hi Anu,

Welcome to IL.
For a beginner, I would suggest the book Zarapkar System of Cutting. This book covers all the dresses from new born to adults( men and women). I am not aware of any DVD for the same. You can refer to other threads in this forum for instructions on blouses and salwar kameez etc. There is a lot of information you can gather and learn.

Also there are some videos on youtube too. Search for stitching salwar and you will find a lot of them. Hope this helps to start off.

have you come across any tailoring classes? Even i am interested in joining at least to stitch salwars... I am residing near saidapet and anything near ashok nagar should be fine. Kindly let me know if you find some classes.
