    Re: Thread

I use the Coats threads or the Vardhaman threads. These are the polyester threads.

Re: how to calculate the cloth needed in meters for blouse

Hi hemasounder !The material needed for a garment depends on the size of the garment and the width of the material for chili we need twice choli legth + 3" if the fabric is 36 inch wide.If the size of the garment is big or the width of the material is small( 30 inch) we need( length of the blouse +length of the sleeve)x2
material neaded for salwar is twice the length in wider fabric and 2 and 1/2 times of the length in a narrower fabric. It also depends on the style of the salwar.

Curved hems- The bottom hem of umbrella frocks, A line frocks and petticoats have curved hems. We cannot just turn the hem in and stitch. We have to adjust the fullness. We can get a perfect finish by following this method. Turn in the bottom of the garment once by ¼” and put long stitch by machine. Or if you are doing it by hand put a running stitch. Match the sides and secure them with pins. Pull up the loose stitch at intervals to adjust the fullness and do the hemming. If the fullness is not much we can adjust it by taking by small pleats at intervals
