Just an update...I got my book delivered just today ! I really dont know what took them so long to deliver though the books seemed to show as Available ! Someone else in this forum had mentioned they got it within 2 days....:-(

Well well...now that I got the book finally, no regrets ! :) Let me see how much I get to understand ...

All veteran seamstresses out here in IL...can anyone of you share your knowledge with beginners like us, if these kind of books had actually helped people in earlier days ? Just want to know just to have an idea regarding standard books followed in the field of tailoring/dress making !

Books teach you the method of cutting .These books do not teach how to stitch. It is good to learn basics by going to a sewing class for a few days. Then you will understand those books.

If you want to become a tailor it is better you learn basics from a teacher. There are so many words used while teaching .In tutorials it is difficult to explain each and every word.Books give you method of drafting but not stitching.Videos are very fast to learn for a beginner.
