2 Dupattas from old oriya silk saree.

I love this saree. I bought it at my wedding time. My amma has the same saree in different colours. Cream and purple squares which she has worn so many times that it's all worn out. Since I'm not much of a saree wearer, this saree remained in my cupboard for almost 10 years. And since it's black, could not wear it much for day functions, marriages etc. Moreover my husband hates this saree, always calls it a bedspread. But I love geometric designs. So I kept it without giving it away.

Just a few months ago, I came up with this idea for Recycling it. I made 2 dupattas out of it. one for myself and the other for sis(co-sis). These can be teamed with black, maroon or silver plain coloured salwar sets, I think. The first one is the set I made for self. Just cut out a dupatta length from the saree and got its edges interlocked. Teaming it with an ash semi jute kurta and maroon chudi(of another set.

For sis, I made a more elaborate designer dupatta using the body and pallu of the saree and another black cotton silk cloth on which I did glitter squares in silver(3D liner). Please tell me if it looks good. I wanted to do more but sis said this is enough.

Planning to co-ordinate the look with black metal sets. :-D

Good idea . Great work.

If you use this cut piece of the saree in the top some where as border in hand or at the bottom or at the neck, all the three top, pant and Dupatta will get synchronized. We can try like this also right ?
