Hi Ladies! I have cut the top material and attached it with lining material. I am struck with Neck design. This is the sample neck design given along with material. I have some doubts about stitching this neck design. 1. Should I complete the neck facing before stitching the neck pattern? 2. How to cut the material ? 3. How to stitch it with the neck design? Kindly help me. Thanks in advance.
You have to first complete the neck facing. Trace the neck pattern on the paper canvas(fusible interfacing - the one that can be ironed on to the cloth). The inner edge of the pattern should match the neckline and the outer edge as per the design. Then place this canvas pattern on the cloth that you will be using for the pattern and cut the material leaving extra along the edges for folding. Iron it well with the edges folded. Place the pattern over the neck of the dress and sew along the edges. Hope this is understandable to you.
Thank you so much Saheli!. I will try this on waste cloth first. Then on the material. By the way, what is the measurement I have to take from inner edge of neck line - 2" ? Is this is same method for any neck pattern? I get the paper canvas here in Coimbatore. What is the name of the canvas - which can be ironed - called? Do we get that type?
The meAsurement of the pattern is upto you. Usually this is the method when attaching stylized neck patterns. You can ask for paper canvas or interfacing. One side of it will stick on the cloth when ironed. It will be coated with wax on on side which will melt with heat and stick to the cloth when ironed.
i have a doubt , we can iron the designer cloth piece with canvas paper but the question is we have to cut the neck and arm hole on the main material and then we have to attach the designer piece or we have to sew the designer piece on the main material first and then cut. Pl. make this point clear this will help a lot. thanks in advance.
its not so difficult to stitch neck patterns at all, but all you have to do is be more alert and active while cutting and stitching it.
