| Hi Shanthi, Thnk you for your reply. I still have some doubts. Do you have any idea how the tamil syllabus going to be for Matric next year ? Like I said earlier, I finalised to put my son in CBSE next year (6th grade), but, my husband was suggesting that introduction of 3rd lang is going to be tough on him, as already he's struggling to learn tamil only. Later, when we saw this news abt syllabus changing, he suggests me to take a look at matric...we are more concerned only about Tamil. What my view is, even though, matric syllabus changes, Tamil standard is going to remain the same (as usual tough), but in CBSE tamil is not going to be that hard..right ?? Can you pass your comments on this, please. Thank you geetha |

| hi geetha, Was talking to a state board teacher yesterday, she told me there is revamping of syllabus for next year.. that is sure. and also it is confirmed for 10th standard, for the other classes it is not yet confirmed. Regarding cbse, the syllabus has been gradually changed over the 2-3 years. like one year it would be 4th and 6th...that way i think the syllabus has already been changed..... Regarding second language, tamil (because i dont even know how to write )..i am not sure because i was a hindi student (but by experience feel south indian do better in hindi, because we tend to learn it grammatically and not much influenced by the dialect spoken...this again i doubt now..)Since you are looking at other aspects...why dont you check out french language. if you are not particular about tamil, then give him a breather, check out if the schools will give french option- this is one more option.

| Hello Manju ma'am, I do not know how far my reply will help you since i have not replied on time due owing to lack of time (exams and mini-proj work had to be completed). Am not sure regarding the applications ma'am. But since it is Vijayadasami time now, i think you can go to the concerned schools and verify. And its not necessary to meet the principal for application purpose. But during my time, it was Princi herself who gave my father the application form. My father tried for me every year right from my 6th std (if am not wrong) and every time we never even managed to get the application form due to various reasons. And at last princi recognized my father in the queue when he went for my 9th std admissions:) and then i had the entrance exam for science, maths and hindi. Yes ma'am, one need to be in and around some few kms from the school campus. If am not wrong, only in that criteria i got my application form. All the very best ma'am Regards Quote:

| [Hi geetha, I live in Uk and i have 2 kids age7 and 4 and now iam planning to come back to chennai and most likely will be based in purashwalkam or kilpauk . I saw u'r messages and i have the same problem too abt the international schools, which is very far and 2nd language . I was just thinking by now you must have sorted out the schools for your kids , or atleast got some more informaion about it, which might help me in making my search for the schools easier. Iam also going to India this December for holidays and thinking that i will approach some schools, who could consider nri children and coach accordingly. |
