admission test for cbse 1st std

hi,
my son is in KG in USA. v r planning to join him in chennai for 1st std.could any one tell me what will the syllbus or what all things ll be asking for 1st std admission test in cbse schools.will it be a written test? is there 2nd langauge in cbse kindergarten??
how will be 1st std second langauge? starting from alphabets or words?if any one have idea abt these things pls reply..........

Hi,
In CBSE schools for 1st std, if you have a admission test it will not very difficult. It will be just to estimate the kids basic understanding. You have to mention that your kid did his KG from USA then the school authorities will test accordingly as per US standards. In 1st class you will have the following subjects;
hindi,english,math, evs(environmental science --- this will be a combination of science as well as social upto 2nd std) and computers( in some schools---only basics)
In hindi, the kid will learn basic script
English and Math will be more in CBSE schools- you can have a look by borrowing some neighbours books.
EVS will cover basic science and social concepts.
I cannot write in detail about all the subjects

I am on the same boat as you. My son is studying in singapore(giis, singapore) and i am planning to move to chennai psbb next year. I know there will be adminission test in English, Tamil(2nd lang), Maths and Env or cultural studies. Here in singapore they finish the school term in march end, so april they start the term. In india they don't start the term until june. Which gives me a 2 month window for him to pick up the required things. I would be very eager to meet up with some fellow nri's who are thinking of sending their kids to psbb kk nagar. I went to the school once and so far seems to be very impressed. I hope my son gets into the school.

I think schools like Jawahar and PSBB have second lang (tamil)only form 1ststd..Then why do they have lang test for first std admission?

i am pretty sure that they have 2nd lang(tamil) from lkg, ukg. My son is learning tamil and english.

Nice to know tht u r settling in india. As per my knowledge they ll ask some basic English reading of sentences some grammar and phonetics. Maths counting 1-500 spellings 1-100 and some count and write. and some Science and social.U can just refer the books in india of 1st std.
