Default About Vael's Billabong High International School

Hi,

I am now working in US. I am planning to go to Chennai this May. My Daughter is 3 years old and I am planning to put her in "Vael's Billabong High International School".
Can anyone please give me some information about "Vael's Billabong High International School". I basically want the Transportation Details and the Fee details. This is just to calculate my budget before getting into this School.

Also do you know if they have After School Day Care as me and my husband both are working.

Hi
Have you already enrolled her there? One of my friends, was saying that she called to talk from here (Melb) and they were quite accomodative and gave all the details, over phone. That way you can get first hand information. We are planning to move next may and stronglt considering vels too, coz of the feedback I have heard.
But I know, there are 2-3 IL ladies, who have put thier children in Vels.
Can Jyothi or any other mum having her child in VELS billabong, please give your personal opinion here as it would be helpful for both me and brintha.
All the best for your r2i.
Cheers

hi both,

As far as i have heard vaels is a good choice. they have a shift system until they move to a bigger campus.if you are not near the school it is going to be a problem.
the fees are very reasonable at 60 k/annum for nursery to upwards of 1lac/annum for senior classes.transportation i dont have an idea.

vaels is an icse school i think not sure will confirm...

The school in terms of infrastructure is good. They are on an expansion mode.

Is it an International school? - Did they name themselves as they have foreign nationals as students?

They have an extensive patronage from the members of the movie industry.

Is it a safe school for kids? NO. NO. NO

Child abuse/molestation - Scary!!!! Peadophiles in school - Scary!!!

On Feb 18th a 3.5 year kid (girl) was molested in the school premises. The kid complained to the parents that a guy wearing spectacles did something to her private parts. The vibrant and energetic kid tells her parents about the incident. The kid now is scared and is weeping, clinging to its parents or grand parents. Does not want to go to school. Often asks its parents if the "bad guy" who hurt her would be taken away by the police? She also says in tamil "Naan paavum illa?" (Am I not a sweet girl?)
(Feb 18th is the monday after the concert day - saturday, where many teachers were on leave and kids were on their own, or managed with other available staff)

The parents had take it up to the co-ordinator and principal who showed no remorse or empathy. This was a secret within themselves. The incident came to light when the parents again visited the school after a few days to find out if the culprit was identified and necessary steps taken. The parents were provided a cold response stating - "Necessary steps are taken, do not tell anyone about the incident". The visibly shaken parents were approached by other parents in the school campus who came to know the incident.

When the other parents furious about the incident, wanted to meet the principal, they are not still given an audience. The school administration is now on an offensive by stating that the victims parents are insane and are blabbering/exaggerating. Would a kid lie? Would a parent victimise their kid to build a story? The parents are too soft that they do not intend to take it up with the police as it would cause trauma to the kid.

Parents who have come to know about the incident and weighing the odds have started to withdraw their kids. I have withdrawn my kid though I am running around to find admission as most of the schools have closed admissions. I would rather have my kid at home rather take the risk of a callous school.

I do not want my kid to be the next victim, and also be treated by an insensitive
administration.

Would you want to take the chance of your kid to be physically abused and psychologically affected? Think twice....

In Support of Vael’s Billabong Nursery parent

I am one of the parents who would like to clarify about the incident stated by Diane Kumar. The incident was questioned by a group of parents and the clarifications were given by the Principal and the coordinators. The clarification was given as that the incident has no chance of having happened at school that day as the date of the incident according to the parent is the 18th Feb 2008. The annual day function of the school was on the 16th Feb 2008 and the 18th was given as a holiday for all children.

The report that was given by the parents specified as a vaginal infection only. Moreover when we parents spoke to the concerned authorities of the school, we were given a clear picture that steps of investigation had been taken and the child has not identified any member of the school staff.

The child is coming normally to school everyday. She has been exposed to a great deal of the male staff in the school and there has been no negative reaction from her. She behaves in school as any normal child does. She is involved in all activities also. The staff members are also having a close study of the child’s day to day behaviour.

So as a parent who has a child in this school studying. I have no complaints or bad issues to be pointed out. The school is completely safe for all kids. It is the responsibility of every parent to teach their children not to indulge in speaking to strangers and accepting things. THIS IS THE DUTY OF EVERY PARENT.

The campus is completely safe. The teaching and the attention given to every child is good. So I strongly state that the school is safe and the incident has surely not happened inside the campus. All security measures are thorough. Children are happy to come to school everyday. This we as parents witness in the 5 days of the week. I think the same child in question is also feeling the same otherwise she would not be coming to school.

Why did the parent send the child to school on a holiday? Who dropped the child on that day? There are no chances of psychological disturbances in the school!
