La Chatelaine Residential School

Hi,

I finally registered for admission in La Chateline on 25th Oct.

5 am - my DH joined the queue (many had been standing from 1am)
6 am - schools gate opened and the queue was broken and everyone rushed inside to form a new queue.
6:15 am - I joined my DH.. I noticed the age limits on the notice board and was disappointed seeing my DS (who will be 3.2 yrs old in June 2010) fits into LKG only. I was thinking of putting him in Pre -KG only and never thought of LKG at all. This is the age limit -

Pre-K.G : 2 - 2.4 yrs
L.K.G : 3 - 3.4 yrs (actually more than 2.4 yrs goes to L.K.G)
U.K.G : 4 - 4.4 yrs (actually more than 3.4 yrs goes to U.K.G)

I tried asking the teachers there, they strictly said admissions will be considered only based on this age limit and no compromise on that. They check the birth certificate before giving Pre-KG form.. So they didnt give me the Pre-K.G form itself. We deicded to just do the registration for LKG just in case no other school works out.

6.30 am - Pre-KG pluckcard was putup in one area. so again new queue was formed. UKG board was put up in pne area, queue was formed for that too.
LKG board was not put up anywhere so randomly a queue was formed in front of a room. suddenly someone talked about LKG and the LKG queue broke and formed one in front of that man. in 5 mins, in the opposite direction someone mentioned about LKG and again a new queue was formed. I with some frustrated parents stood in the middle waiting for people to decide where to form the queue. While in one counter people were trying to pull the forms from one teacher holding it in one of the office counters. It looked like people fighting for prasadham. by this time, Pre-LG queue had prgressed and everyone got the form to registration. Somehow we too got one LKG form and by that time respective queue were formed for submitting the forms..

7:30 am - Counters for collecting filled in forms opened at , luckily my DH stood somewhere in front so we submitted in 10mins and walked out.

8:30 am - all queues were over!

They will contact us via post / phone during end of January 2010.

We also have registered for my DD.that was a detailed update on the queue.my inlaws didn't say much about this

For ukg you said 3.4. Do you mean at in 2010.

yes I meant - more than 3.4 yrs as of June 2010 will be eligible for UKG only.

Did they give any Registration card (with some waiting list number on it) to confirm that they have received/verified our certificates accordingly?? I hear that few people got a registration card as a token of receipt of the verified certificates.

yes the card had a registration number on it. in case we get selected, we have to produce this card to be identified.

Is the registration number equivalent to waitlisting number? i.e., the lower the number the greater are the chances of getting the admission call?? What is the number on your card??

abiramy, there is no priority based on the number on the card. I really dont remember mine but I am sure it is just a number for identification.

school officials saw that those who were standing first in queue from midnight did not get the card in the same order.. so I think that is not a criteria at all in this school

Though there in few other schools they give weightage to those who collected applications on the very first day.

I stay at Porur and am looking for UKG admission for my 4 year old son. Can you help me to prioritise the following schools since I am unable to decide on one among the following schools?

1) La Chatalein - For which I have already got the registration card on 25th October
2) PSBB Millennium - Initially my son will go to UKG at GST branch and then from 1st standard onwards he will go to Porur branch
3) Lalaji Omega Internation School

Anyone else who has views on the above school, please help me to prioritise the schools based on academics, extra curricular activities, teachers etc.

How much is the fees for 1st standard in both Lachateline and Ponvidhyashram? Approx fees is fine for me.
