Re: Do anybody know anything about Pon Vidyasharam,Valasaravakkam in Chennai?
yes abiramy, as you rightly said, though I went for the interview with my very sick child and the 1.5 hr wait in the hot sun and a shed was not very impressive. when we enter the interview hall, my ever happy kid became all cranky becos of his stomach cramps and the teachers told each other that he is not responding. I asked for a different date and they gave me the very next day. we were very sure our kid may not perform the next day too given his sickness (food poisoning leading to diarhhoea + vomiting). But who ever got selected were escorted straight to the cash counter without even giving time to think and decide. I saw some parents happily paying the full year fees but we wer not game for it. so we opted not to attend the next day.
Given your school choice, I too would say keep La Chateline the third choice. PSBB Mill is any day a better choice given the short distance from your home.

Re: Schools in Valsarawalkam,Virugambakkam,Saligramam
Hey Dharshu.. welcome to IL! I am sure you will find some solution or near to a solution when you visit IL. For me, it does!
BTW, I live at Ramapuram too. Which schools have you applied? or planning to apply?
Any reason for you to prefer LKG for her in 2010 - 2011. My kid is 2yrs and 8 months now and will be 3.3 in June. Though he will fit LKG, I prefer Pre-KG for him because I want him to be in the near to the higher end of the age-limit set for that class. So for LKG he will be too young and for Pre-KG he will be amongst the older ones in class. I prefer the latter. Age-Limit differs in every school. So you have to find some schools that are convineint for you for various reasons and then check the age-limit given there.
IMO, I do not want to rush my LO into LKG as I strongly believe there is lot of trouble that an under-aged child would need to take all through their school life to come in par with the other older children in class. Learning Capacity differs in every child but given a choice it is always better to be near to the higher end of the age-limit set.

Hi Arthi,
I too feel the same what u said. Thats why i m discussing here. Thanks for ur useful words.
I tried PonVidhyasaram and Devi academy. I am very particular with CBSE schools. What about ur kid, Is he going to any play school?
Nice to see u r in Ramapuram, you may heard about "Royal kids play school",
now she is going there. Ofcourse the school is very new and looking simple n small, the teaching methods n subjects are good.(Montessori).
So now i am planning to continue her in Royal Kids itself, though its very long term (till May 2011)
. Next year (2011 -2012) i ll put her in LKG in any one CBSE school near us.
Am i in the right way? Please guide me? Since it is our child's future, i couldnt come to the conclusion immly.

Schools near Saligramam
LKG Admission near Saligramam, Vadapalani, Ashok Nagar, Anna Nagar, Kodambakkam,
<HR style="COLOR: #ffffff; BACKGROUND-COLOR: #ffffff" SIZE=1>Hello Friends,
**** LKG Admission Query, ****

We are recently relocated to Chennai. My son is 3.5 now: DOB: 04th May 2006, currently attending nursery at Euro Kids.
We are put up near Ambika Empire, 100 Ft road, Vadapalani.
I’m really confused about school admission in Chennai, when few schools issue application other schools completes admission, real dilemma to choose school. My job is transferable and I will be in Chennai for max 2 years.
Please provide rating some of the schools mentioned below, good infrastructure in school is important to me.
- <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" /><st1:place w:st="on"><st1:PlaceName w:st="on">Scharam</st1:PlaceName> <st1:PlaceType w:st="on">Academy</st1:PlaceType></st1:place>, Anna Nagar (They will provide notification in first week of DEC
) - PSBB Millenium, GST Road (they told they have transportation facility to our locality, I need to make complete payment for admission by 23rd Dec, 2009. Really confused to accept admission offer or reject it considering distance, since other schools just start admission process at this time
) - Chennai Public School (They asked to contact in Jan 2010, I prefer this school, but it is too late, I fear if I decline PSBB millennium and my son does n’t make it to CPS interview, that will be worst case
)
Pls. add other good schools, if any and provide valuable suggestion in complex decentralized Chennai school admission process to choose right school.

My kids are studying in Devi Academy. My son (Jagan) is going to UKG and I admitted him in Pre-kg in this school last year. I was a bit apprehensive and I tried Schram, but due to certain beliefs and disciplines that varied between these 2 schools, we chose Devi. I am quite happy with this school. It was one of the best schools in this area 8-9 years back. Now with every year, some or other improvement is happening in the school which is making it more appealing. It is the only school in our area that has FITJEE intergrated class program. Regarding English, i admire my son's teacher who speaks excellent english. Not even once, has she spoken to me in Tamil. Whereas, my daughter who is in 3rd, speaks a lot in Tamil in her class though i keep telling her to converse in English. When teachers are around, it is compulsory to talk in English....but our kids also prefer their mother tongue over other languages if they have that choice. My daughter was bad in Tamil when we moved to chennai, but now that has improved and english has not deterioated either.
It is a nice school overall and standards are also comparatively high. Unlike other schools. here most of the students are asked to participate in many activities and it definitely improves their confidence. They have also introduced Smart Class (EduComps) program since the end of last year.....atleast last year, it was looked upon by kids as leisure thing, but hope they make it more integrated this year.

Good CBSE schools in and around Valasarawakkam
Hi,
I am currently in Nungambakkam in a rented house. We have bought an apartment in Valasarawakkam and planning to shift next month. I need to join my daughter in a good CBSE school. I thought I could join her in Chinmaya Vidyalaya in Chetpet, but now we've to shift. Can anyone tell me how Chinmaya is in Virugambakkam? And I need to know about other CBSE schools also.
Thanks in advance,
Poornima.
