Papers needed for 2nd std admission

Hello Friends,
Could anyone tell me from your experience, what are the papers we need to bring from the old school from US for admitting a child in 2nd std in chennai?
The things I am concerned about is, do they need the T.C of the old school saying that the child is promoted to 2nd std? since we will be leaving US by January we won't be able to get the same so, please your valuable suggestions are greatly appreciated.
