| Amitha, most kids in the US start pre school after they turn 3. Please check your school district's web site to see if they offer any preschool programme. You can also send for pre school in a montessori, private schools and many day cares also offer that - you can choose the days and times in most cases. As far as Kindergarten is concerned a child should be atleast 5years old. The cut off dates vary from state to state - again your school districts web site is the best resource. For ex, in some states a child must have turned 5 by sept 30 of that year, while in some it could be july of that year. Once you check the website and find out when your child is eligible of KG you can decide on pre school which is basically to help a child get used to the idea of school, listening to others, learning, following simple rules etc. Hope this helps and good luck. |

| Thanks Srama for your reply. We were sending our DS to a private pre-school twice a week during last year. But this year I am going to India for a long duration and I was worried whether my DS would be missing the actual schooling. He is going to turn 4 this December. I am thinking of putting him in school in India. I will have to search some websites here then.
