    @bappanaduSose
    Hi !!
Do the have factors and multiples in 3rd? You're doing 4th NSO/IMO for 3rd std child ?

Anyway - if the correct answer is indeed 8 - the pattern is one of these
    3+5 = 8, 12-4=8, 6+2=8

    The bottom row is factors - 4 = 2X2, 12 = 2X6

I guess the above answer is quite twisted for a 4th std kid ! I dont see any common patterns! So, maybe someone else could suggest an easier explanation

    Hi @BappanaduSose
You are giving 4 std question paper for your 3 std daughter
Maybe you can search in the internet
You can see in the website that 'have any quries ask here'
    You can ask there
I think the answer is 13

I think it is a print mistake. So common in these books.
@hrastro me too broke my pea-brain and came to the conclusion, yet gave it to my dd to try. even she came with multiple possible combinations assuming it to be 8.

Then just now as i was refreshing i saw this post coming up again. a :idea..suppose if it was 16..then it is possible.. the problem8 key is d. and 7 could also be d. the possiblity of doing this error is a very common thing i have noticed these past few years. the funny thing is none of the other websites that copy the question papers check or edit..

@bappanadusose if we assume it is 16, the sum of all the numbers in yellow = the sum of all the numbers in pink (At class 4 that is the most simplest pattern that can be assumed to be asked) there you go..the sume of all the numbers in pink circle are 25..so 16 wil suit.

that said, i would say for a class 3 trying to work out class 4 is too much love. not worth the strain you put on your child and all the best. another thing if they are good with their class 3 portions, class 3 nso is easy to crack...no need of so much coaching...

    Sister @bappanadusose

    :welcome to IL family

Here is my solution for the Q

    Olympiad.jpg

Being a primary student, we go by two colours given,

    The pink colour is completely filled, Hence 2 + 5 + 12 + 6 = 25

    Then the green colour to be added which is 3 + 4 + 2 = 9

Both should add upto 25 so the blank in the green colour is 25 - 9 = 16

    The ANSWER is 16

As @Shanvy Sister mentions all these books have print errors, this could be the easiest way for a Primary Student.

May Baba guide us always, SAIRAM

Thanks guys for looking into this...
    yup..May be it is typo...
And yes. they are 4th std papers.....
My daughter likes solving these type of papers[it saves me from writing questions in rough notes] and i was browsing through some of the papers to take away home.I found this 4th paper and was checking the complex level of the same...if at all,she takes up the exam in the coming year..

I just couldnt figure out the answer and concluded that my grey cells level are much lower than a 4th kid ...:bonk..i even sent it across to some of my colleagues...and they have been breaking their head over this ..keeping aside all their work!!!!

that was a real tuff one!!
Even i feel it is 16,now that @Saishakthi has pointed out..[Also,it is one of the options]

    Thanks all once again..

    @bappanadusose
One possible way to have 8 as the answer is
(Sum of the numbers in pink excluding the largest number in pink)-largest number in pink circle= (6+5+2)-12=1
Applying the same logic to the numbers in yellow,
    (4+3+2)-?=1 is8.
4 is the largest known number in yellow and the sum of the other two known numbers is already 5.So the unknown number (?) must be the largest number in yellow.

I now know one thing. Even with a Master's Degree in Mathematical sciences I cannot solve most of the problems in a 4th Std Math Olympiad!

    ok, got the answer.

Look at the triangles. The sum of all the numbers in the triangle is 2+4+5+12+6 = 29.
The reverse triangle should also add up to 29. The sum is 3+4+2+12 = 21. The missing number has to be 8 for the sum to be 29.
