Dear Jaya,
That's a great choice. SPB is the very embodiment of benevolence. In fact after reading your sentence I let my imagination run riot and have introduced a scene for SPB as well. But to read that you'll have to wait till 28th. It's in the third episode.
thanks for the suggestion.

Vidya,
So there is one more Vidya here in the site. Welcome, Vidya. Don't miss the next episode as the character Vidya is entering the story.

Quote:
I must say you write so beautifully...I read both the first & second parts in one go...
thanks, Vidya.
Quote:
ANd it is so engaging that I never realized how time passed.. and I simply love Arun's caracter..and his conversation with his father is the best part..
Each one of us have at least one relationship where our heart will be in conflict with our mouth.

Quote:
What you mentioned about the importance of job is very true.. In fact even I keep mentioning to my husband often that our personal life an happiness should always take the first priority over job. I am eagerly waiting to read the next part..VIdya's entry..because she shares my name
You are right. Now that one more Vidya is expecting the next episode, I will have to be even more careful.

Quote:
In the meantime I am going to read the other posts of yours..Guess this weekend is going to be a busy one !
Thanks Vidya. The great Chithra (Chitvish) has prepared a detailed index o my writings and is continuously updating it. You may click the link CV's index beneath my name and see the three page long menu card. Then you can choose to read whatever that appeals to you.

Dear Krithika,
I will have to thank you,
a)for dropping the sir behind my name
b) for understanding the character of Arun's father and accepting my explanation for it.
I could have made the heroine Kamla's daughter. But that would to a great extent diminish the love and stature of Kamla.
I am now toying with various alternative paths the story should take. But right now my first priority is the third episode.
Pray for me.
regards,

Oh...you hit the nail right on the head...of course..I am my appa's pet ! Just can't take it (even in movies/books) when someone talks/thinks ill of their own parents !

You are right ! My bad ! Excuse me ! Yes, I remember the above lines from your first episode !

Counting the days to read the next part !

And yes....one more thing..for Kamla's role.....how about Suhasini? No? Firm choice only Tabu? :)

Regards
Krithika

Dear Sridhar,
a fast second episode to a fast first, I really liked this episde also. I can empathise with Arun in his feelings towards his father, my hubby is somewhat in that line. Not all parents are loving and understanding, even to this day.
Here is my husband who insists that with out Maths, one cannot come up in life. There is another person, one of niece's room mate's father, who is stuck on commerce. Both of them have one thing common, they are hell bent on that only their thought is right. The world is made of all kinds of people.
Is it really possible to get so close in one meeting, like Dr.Kamla and Arun? May be, when a person is so desperate as Arun!
And I will have to read the comments of others and your reply to that, that itself comes to 2 episodes.

Dear Radha,
It is one type of pleasure to read the entire story in one go. I have seen my niece reading Harry Potter book the whole night foregoing her sleep.
It's another pleasure to read it in parts. I am not talking about the TV serials. I am talking about the serial stories in Vikatan, Kalki and Kumudam in those days. Our mothers and grandmothers used to wait for the weekly with trepidation in their hearts.
It is very difficult for me to publish the entire 40000 word novel in one go. Whereas if I give in parts, I can know your views and even change the story line if necessary.
Thanks for the kind words you have about my writing.
regards,

Dear Sindhuja,
I also wanted to bring in Vidya in the second episode itself. But it went beyond the planned length of 3000 words. I had to push Vidya to the third episode.
As they say for the movies of our super star,
"Vidya lateaa vandhaalum latestaa varuvaa"
Quote:
"Life is not about money. It’s about the good time we have, the sweet memories we can share and the learning experiences. “If work gets you all these things, fine. If you can get these things without working, it is even better.”

Well said! I enjoyed reading the above quote. It's a great message!

Thanks a lot, Sindhuja.

Quote:
Thanks for adding all the famous places in Chennai. I liked it being a Chennaite!
Though I am a Maduraiite I too love Chennai and have included the places I have known, visited and loved.

Quote:
Looking forward for the third episode (which is on Friday, right sir?)!
A small change. It would be Monday next. Because many ILites especially those abroad are busy during the week-end. Hence I have postponed the episode time to Monday morning, Indian time.

Quote:
I haven't read the story, "The Promise" yet. I will not miss it, as the heroine has my name. hehehe....
Please do read it at your convenience. Here's the link

P.S: I think Kushboo will best fit for Kamla's character.
She was my first choice.

Dear Brindha,
Quote:
Dear Brindha, the one who made us hear the unheard voice,

Will there be any honour in my life.. Im really gifted to get such a statement from a legend like you...
I called my Dh and showed this and your response for that thread... He was..happy and he came to know that even I scribble somthing in IL...thankyou very much for making my scribblings visible to my DH.... :)
You had written that piece so well. And the unheard voice was haunting me for long. And there is one more reason. About ten years ago, when female foeticide was so rampant near Madurai (Usilampatti is the epicenter of that epidemics) I wrote a whole story from the angle of an unborn girl child. It was so sad that I did not have the mind to publish it. That is in Tamil. May be one of these days I'll put it up here in IL. I could relate to what you had written well because of the trauma I underwent while I wrote that piece.

Quote:
And after your cutain raiser..I was in much expectations and in the same time i had a feel that...let me switch over to tamil now.... :)

உங்கள் அழகான உணர்வுள்ள கதைகளை தமிழில் படிக்கமுடியவில்லை என்ற ஏக்கம் இருந்தது......
You can always do that. Three of my Tamil books are in Singapore National Library. And next time when you come to India, I'll give you a copy of all my books.

Quote:
The frame of words,Your wonderful style of narration, the depth of feelings you have shown in the story, I can add on like this.. have made me dumb.....
You have brought the same feel that I have when I read a stroy in our mother tongue ..... It has been possible to bring the feel in English because of you ,, the writer ..because of only you..... :)
English is more or less our mother tongue. We can emotionally relate to English these days in the same way we do to Tamil. In 1993 when I was giving my farewell address in England as a member of the Group Study Exchange Team, I told the English people who had gathered there,
"In as much marriage is a part of our tradition, and Himalayas a part of topography, the language of English is a part of our culture."
No where in the world can you see so many people who are able to think in a language other than their mother tongue.

I am happy that you enjoyed the narration, Brindha.
Long fbs are meant to be enjoyed and not excused, dear. See you in Episode 3.
love,
sridhar

Dear Bhargavi,

Oh.My god. This episode was even more mind blowing and I am again as usual speechless and blank for almost three minutes. This is the best symptom to know that everyone fall down(admire and wonder) by your writings sir.
thanks, Bhargavi.

But,please don’t let the secret out.Secrets continue to be interesting only if they are maintained as secrets..Hope I am not confusing……
You are not confusing. But let me tell you that there are no secrets about writing except the one said by the great writer Upton Sinclair.
"You want to write well? Just stare at the paper till blood forms on your forehead. Then start writing."

Quote:
The comparison of ring tone to dog’s barking sound speak well about the relationship of arun to his father.Just like a son usually complaining about his nagging father, here arun too not an exception.Let us wait and see…..The conversation between arun’s heart, mouth and his dad was great.Your comic timing is impeccable and marvellous.
Thanks. It is something we do most of the time, BC. For instance if the wife had prepared a great dish and asks her husband, how he liked it, he can't for his life say, "It sucks.". He would rather utter a blatant lie, "Hi Dear, where did you learn doing all these things?" Of course it won't be a lie so to say. ha ha.

Quote:
Well, for arun love speaks only in dream .What abt in reality????????Dr.kamla’s sweet words and affection made him complete a task which was pending. What would have happened to him in these six months…..
The reality is harsh, bitter. And Arun suffered for six months before he came to Dr.Kamla.

Quote:
Part 3 was almost realistic and make me visualize the scenario.(A restaurant, full meal speaking about our singaara Chennai)
I initially assumed that the call probably would be from kamla.I am right in fact.
It is called "Raayar Kadai" in Mylapore. I have been there several times. Tastiest dishes. If you want to visit, I'll get you the address.

The awaited timing has come.waiting to know abt vidya….
Yes. It's there in the 3rd episode. I am struggling to give final touches to it, BC.
Please do pray for me.
love,

Arun’s dream was romantic and wonderful. It reminds me of the heroes in films dreaming about their partner and finally interrupted by his father usually portrayed as a nuisance or a comedian.I don’t complain about it because that is the way to describe a comedy or to reveal that the father was silly and irritating aptly.

Love, whatever may be its form, is a miracle in itself and is a prime mover for many other miracles. Arun’s mind was full of love when he dozed off to sleep. And that partially explained his romantic dream at the beach.

What caught Arun’s attention was the gaudy diamond necklace that was glaringly contrasted by her black T shirt. To Arun it appeared as if the lady wanted to shout through the public address system to the whole world that she was rich.

I can very well imagine Mrs.sharma and her diamond necklace.I don’t know why billionares and millionaires lag behind in taste and dressing.Mrs sharma fit in the category…

“And he insists that our staff Jeyanthi, that good looking girl working in the Cash Section today, should spend a night with him. Will you have the courage to tell Jeyanthi to do so?”

Good shot.Is it not????
Kamla’s dealing with arun speak well of her profession.

“We should love our work, Arun. But that does not mean that we should depend on it for our happiness. The ability to stay complete without one’s work is the hallmark of real maturity.

These words are worth more than a million.

“I’m just curious, Doc. Tell me one thing that made you find out that I’m in love.”

Still,he is hesitating and fighting to come inside the circle and he has now thrown some shade of hope in the situation.

I’ll tell you five, my dear friend. First, I am a woman. Second, I am a mother. Third, I’ve been in love. Fourth I am a psychiatrist. And finally, you don’t need the other four. It is written all over your face. And written in underlined, bold, capital letters on your eyes. Now be a good boy and tell me about your love.”

The way kamla treats arun makes the move more interesting.

Arun started to talk. About his love. About Vidya.

Dear Sridhar,
Thanks for posting the part -2 in advance! The story is very interesting. Now, i'm more tempted to listen to Arun's Love story.I loved the way you have potrayed the heart- mind speak out.Really was like viewing a movie frame by frame!! Absolutely beautiful thought , kudos to you.

Arun's father's characterisation or should i say picturisation was well.Dr.kamala and her husband,Mr.Kumar well potrayed and enviable couple.

I did gues that the call to Arun would be from the doctor and it did.The encounter with the boss and scenes which explains Arun's way of treating the customers at bank was really good.

Enjoyed this part , waiting for hearing, whats bothering the gentlemen, Arun.
Sigh... have to wait!

Dear Gowri,
thanks for the second fb. You are right about the proverb. There are many proverbs which we fully understand only later in life.

I am very happy to know that you are now happy after all the struggles in your life. I have dealt with some of the richest men in our area. I have never seen anybody happy without the struggles. A few of my rich clients have everything in life and they do not have to do any work. Their lives have become shallow and there is nothing to look for, nothing to hope for in their lives.

As it happened with your life, so it has happened with the third episode. It is now in the "struggle" phase. Let's hope that somewhere before next Monday, it goes from the "sweat" phase to the "sweet" phase.
regards,
