Well, Kamla, I have decided to burden your "weak" shoulders even more. When that ILite told me that after reading your posts continuously from 10 pm to 3 AM he found them all packed with love and grace, let me confess, my dear friend, my opinion about you did not go up. It was already at the highest and there was no way it could go up further.
But my opinion about that ILite did go up.
love,

Thankyou, thankyou and thankyou.
Now the onus of living up to all those praises you have showered upon me rests on my weak shoulders!
Remember, real world is a bit removed from the virtual one...Ha ha ha;)

My Dear GFs,
This is a paasuram I love and I want this to be my 5000th post here in IL. Thanks for all the love, support and encouragement.

I am not attempting a poetic translation of the paasuram. But just explain the meaning .
This paasuram is on Thiruvarangans jewel-bedecked chest.
(திருவார மார்பு) The Alwar says, “ My Lord snapped the thread that
linked me to my past karma. (பாரமாய பழவினைப் பற்றறுத்து) Thus he
unburdened me of my past karma of a million births. Not only did he do that, but also made me His slave. (தன் வாரமாக்கி)
How can I ever hope to describe his Love. Not only that he entered my heart to live there for ever.
How can I ever deserve His great act of Love? Did I do gruesome penance
(கோர மாதவம்) in my births past? I do not know. His necklace-bedecked broad chest has for ever enslaved me.

Dear Aruna,
Thanks. I don't want to keep you waiting. In fact I would rather love to pour out whatever I have in me for you to read. But then you people will suffer from constipation and indigestion. Hence I am serving this nutritious meal in regulated doses.
The next post is coming soon. In fact sooner than expected.
love,

Dear Varalotti Sir,

This is one of the most beautiful story that i have read, one that has to be the first one read to the children and thereafter.

The love between PANNA and VISHNU stirs you completely. Yes HE said right,"PANNA is more holy than the temple, visiting the temple might make him unholy".
Sometimes i go to these discourses when Mom asks me to do so. The moment i go there i find that there are these ladies inspecting my accessories and asking me a thousand Questions not related to religion or devotion but about other things.Infact i find it difficult to concentrate in the temple.I find it better at home. Even its appalling to see these so called devotees dashing off to the food area than the temple and then they claim that they have been at the temple all day.

What I am trying to say its that its not very often that we see such unpretentious genuine devotion.

A VERY RARE FORM OF LOVE: TRUE LOVE

Sometimes when we have a pooja, we find that as we sing we have tears in eyes, no there are no worries in mind , no fears in mind thats bringing it.There are no desires and wants that we want GOD to fulfil but there are tears and those tears make you feel heavy and light .Paradox isnt it , yes but thats what it does it makes me feel heavy and then it gives me immense pleasure.

Another classic on love. Thankyou so much for bringing it here.I loved it so much . This will rule my mind for some time now.

Love,
Devika

Dear Devika,

As usual while responding to my post you have given something for me to munch on, some food not just for thought but for assimilation and action.
About the religious discourses I still remember a parable by Ramakrishna Paramahamsa. Two friends are discussing whether they should go to a discourse or a call girl. One goes to the former and the other seeks the pleasurable company of the latter. The person who attended the discourse constantly thinks of his friend, who should be enjoying the lady's company. And the person who sought the woman's company longs to hear about God and his love.

Ramakrishna concludes in his own way that the person who went to the discourse will be debited with the sin of visiting a prostitute while the other person will be credited with the merit of attending a discourse.

I know Paana's story is well known among people. But stories like these have to be told again and again, heard again and again.
The other day a friend asked me how should we relate to a story like this or that of Villi and Ponnachi.
I told him that we should act as if we were a python. You know the python gobbles up a whole buffalo. And then it takes hours, days and weeks to digest and assimilate the food. We can read the story in one go but should keep on thinking about it to digest it and retain it in the deepest parts of our being.
Thanks once again for your beautiful fb, Devika.
love,
