Dear sridhar,
The train incident that you have described was very interesting.Something that happens tio us in our everyday life.In our hurry and burry we do forget that a nessage can be given to the other person in a more humane manner.
I heard somebody day,"Even if you want to tell a peson to go to hell, tell in such a manner that the person looks forward to the journey".
I am happy all was well that ended well for you and you got back your peace of mind and in that process we got an interesting thread to read.

Regards
mythili

Dear Sridhar,
As you have said, Rajnikanth is a charming person in real life what with his simplicity and grace. I had the pleasure of travelling with him from Bangalore to Chennai by Paramount airways. No bandha. Along with all passengers he boarded the same shuttle bus to take us to the aircraft. He was allocated a seat in the front half along with Shankar and Vivek which was supposed to be an executive class though there didn't seem to be much of a difference between economy and executive class in this particular plane. After landing in Chennai the same way he travelled along with all passengers in the shuttle bus where he autographed for a small child and walked out through the VIP gate to avoid fans. As far as the co-passengers were concerned nobody troubled him though everybody admired at his simplicity(he was wearing a coloured kurtha and jeans pants). After alighting the bus both myself and Rajni walked side by side till he left through the vip gate. Some how I didn't feel like talking to him because I didn't know what to talk! I am not the sort of person to talk about movies to a stranger(I would be a stranger to him even though he is a renowned actor). When I told my sons about this travel, they were very upset that I had not even taken a photograph with him! While you mentioned about Rajni, I felt like mentioning this and so the prelude.
Now coming to the main theme of your thread,we are all humans. We all carry hatred along with us.A slight inconvenience or irritation can make us flare up like a lighted match near a petrol can! Most often I have seen this happening in Thirumala queue complex. While we have purchased a special ticket and are standing in a queue somebody from behind without the privilege jump the queue and all hell breaks loose! Though I have had sympathy for these people there are others who would not rest till the concerned people have moved back at least from the place that rightfully belongs to them! For this reason, I avoid going to the temples as much as possible. Even while waiting for a darshan of the Lord, we are not at peace with ourselves!

When you ask for material favours, SHE takes her own time to grant your prayers. But when you ask for more love, SHE gives it just like that.

This truth is the mother of all truths! Yes, when we stand in front of the supreme Lord, all in tears, sincerely regretting our misdeeds, we do get a blanket pardon for all our sins. God is willing to forgive us umpteen times. We are the ones who take HIM for granted and repeat the same sins again and again forgetting His mercy!

Nammazhwar was waiting for me to open the book. And so was Richard Bach. But I had learnt something very precious outside these great authors. Thank God!
Nothing else can be better teachers than our life's experiences.

I have been mistaken for my writings. There are hundreds of gullible fans who think that I am as good as my heroes – sincere, loving, honest and good to all.
It’s high time I issue a strong denial. It’s high time that I dispel all these baseless rumours. I am not a good person, at least not as good as my heroes. I am not surely as loving as I project my heroes in my stories to be.
By experience I have learnt that when we pretend to be good we try to continue that and it becomes our very nature. Now that you have confessed your misdeeds to us Ilites and also undone the wrong the same day, you have become a better human being and it is going to continue. The moment we realise what we are doing is wrong and start mending our ways, we are moving towards divinity.
This was a wonderful self-confession from a a man who claims

Dear Lalitha,
Before going to the response let's digress a minute to think over your tag line. You say in blue, bold italics that whatever you have is God's wish. I'll just supplement that statement, 'Whatever you don't have is God's love.' When I was in third standard I prayed to God so very fervently that I should ultimately marry my class pupil leader, Rajathilakam. Whenever I went to the temple that was the only prayer I had in my mind. Remember God is our loving mother, not an Alladin's lamp, which blindly gives whatever you ask for. And like a good mother God saw to it that my wish did not materialise. So whatever I don't have is nothing but God's love.

Quote:
.............But did you notice one common thing abt Rajni & yourself............... lot of female fan following....including the great Lalitha.
Read the title of the thread, 'In a way I'm like the Super Star'. But after reading your lines I can venture to say, In a way I'm better than the Super Star. For to my knowledge the great, great Lalitha has not replied so far to any of the threads written by the Super Star. (He has not written any threads is a different matter)

Quote:
..... Idhu koncha over aydhu illai..........
illa madam. Nichayama ithu 'over' illail Idhu innum thodarum. Idhu eppadi irukku.
Quote:
before I was not a fan of Rajini but from past few years I have started liking the person rather the actor and the same with you I have also become a fan of Varalotti & Sridhar.
Your being a fan of Rajini or not will not make any difference to him. But your being my fan or not will surely make a difference to me. For unlike Superstar I don't have a milliion fans. I have a few dozen only and you surely have a place of pride among them.

Quote:
Coming to the thread, it is natural we can understand what you potray in your stories and what you are, are going to be different. Because you are a human being with all vasanas and the hero is an ideal. Hence we do make mistakes in our day today life but correcting our mistakes is an opprtunity to serve HER which you have done very gracefully. Kudos Sridhar.
Thanks my dear friend.
love,

Dear Vidya,
When I saw the long fb from my moderator, I patted myself on my back, muttering with unabashed pride, "Yes, I've done it." The post was educative for me, and it is out of your affection and humility, that you chose that word to describe this post, with reference to yourself. Thanks.

Of late, WYSIWIG people have become an endangered species. When I was in the US, I remembered the America-bashing done back home. Whatever may be the failings of the nation, hypocrisy is definitely not one of their weaknesses. Many of the Americans I met told me openly that they drink, go to strip-joints, have lived with women...FE prevents me from adding to this list. I was shocked to start with. But when they have finished describing themselves, they are there for us to see, answering their own description, neither more nor less. But here in India, lion is our national animal, peacock, our national bird and hypocrisy, our national trait.

Quote:
We all have our moments of sanguine grace and snarky sarcasm. And these emotions mainly come to play in crowded spaces like trains, movie halls etc. And easily enough, often in life, we react impulsively to a wrong or discomfort, like you reacted to the passenger placing the bags by your side. We may not be wrong in protesting, we may be well within our rights, but still we could just bend a little, not break a lot, and yield. But we don't. However, what is most redeeming in your short temper was that it was short lived. A few calm moments of introspection and you accepted that the situation could have been handled differently. And when you want to restore the emotional tranquillity, I have always felt that the universe rushes in to fill that need.
A poetic supplement to the leader post and a great compliment to me. I only wish it had been true. My short temper is not short lived all the time. Only a few days back I was standing in the queue at the Speed Post counter in madurai. We were waiting for more than 15 minutes. When one person tried to jump the queue, I almost jumped on him. I gave so much hell that the person backed out in sheer fear. At that time I did not have any remorse. I had a cruel pleasure and a wicked pride in having established my right and vanquished wrong.

Quote:
I liked this piece. You have not spoken of 'unconditional love' nor have you have not taken us to realms of philosophical acceptance. You have shown us that evil and good (in various degrees) lurk in all of us. Accepting that and working on strengthening the 'good' is probably the best path to becoming an good man. The best lessons in life may not come from Nammazhwar and Richard Bach, but can be found within ourselves. Maybe, it is not given to all to become a Purushottama, but we can all strive to become Uttama Purushas.
When yours truly is not even capable of conditional love, the question of unconditional love does not arise at all, vidya. Philosophy, either in acceptance or denial, is not much help, in situations like these. I fall well within the ambit of the great poets lines.

paadhi manathil deivam irunthu paarthu kondathada
paadhi manathil mirugam irundhu aati vaithadada.

I hope to sing the next two lines of this stanza at the end of this life time or at the end of my hundredth life time from now, whenever She wishes me to do so

"Aatti vaitha mirugam inru adangi vittadhadaa
amaithi deivam muzhu manathil koil kondathadaa..."

Quote:
Good going, Varalotti!!
Thanks a lot, Vidya

Dear Bhargavi,
You made my day with your wonderful fb. Like the child which keeps on seeing its progress report, when it has scored good marks, I kept on reading your fb again and again. And will be reading it several times more, too.
Thanks for joining Vidya to say that this was the best writing of mine. Also pray that I should write better than this too.
Well, what you have stated about Rajni's imitators was poignant. Why didn't they succeed? Very simple. Rajni succeeded for the simple reason that he did not imitate any actor before him. He did not try to act like Shivaji, fight like MGR. Imitators always fail. In all my training seminars I repeat this. When you see a successful person, always try to emulate his qualities and not imitate his methods.

Quote:
People mistakenly think that if you do something bad you get punished afterwards. But the truth is doing a bad act in itself is a punishment. Similarly doing a good act is in itself its reward.

The lines are great, wonderful ,excellent(Anymore words in the dictionary) Sir,adichalum nethi adi adicheenga.
I am happy to know that you enjoyed these words. We are not punished for our sin, Bhargavi. We are punished by our sin. And sinning itself is its punishment.

Quote:
So you have taught us more than what nammazhwar and bach can do.
While I bow down to your love for having made such a sweeping statement, I will have to make it clear, that it is far from the truth. Nammazhwar was a realised soul. There was no difference between him and God. Bach, again, is an enlightened being, who is visiting this earth only to add to our spiritual knowledge.
Whereas I am sure that I might pick up a similar fight soon. May be that was my best day and God decided to show what a little more love can do to my life. Have I learnt the lesson? Time alone can tell, Bhargavi.
thanks for the wonderful fb, once again.
love,

Dear Kamla,
If this piece of writing can floor a person like you, well, I can put that in my resume, when I apply for a new job!
Quote:
Though now it may sound like a broken record, I join Vidya and Bhargavi to say that it is yet one of the best that has come out of your pen!
thanks for that, Kamla. But dont you stop praying that I should write something better too.

Quote:
How true Sridhar, we try to project ourselves as this good person and only we ourselves know our weaknesses and mistakes.
all our complications in life come from the fact that we want to project a different picture to others. This happens at a time when persons fall in love. People in love want to be good, want to look too good to their beloved, and this complicates the marriage in more ways than one.

Quote:
People mistakenly think that if you do something bad you get punished afterwards. But the truth is doing a bad act in itself is a punishment. Similarly doing a good act is in itself its reward.
Those lines are simply wonderful and very very true.
thanks.

I think you excel when you write about real incidents from your life.....my observation :)
This comment and a few poignant comments by Vidya and other ILites have made me decide on the next serial to come in IL. It is still at the idea stage. In fact even in the train I had a vague idea about the next serial. But these comments have now reinforced that decision.
Dear GFs, please see elsewhere in this thread, for a brief announcement.

Quote:
I am no fan of anyone really and not at all of Rajnikant! But come to think of it, I have often thought how real and natural he is in his 'off movie' pics and comes across as a nice person from whatever I read here and there. Now I like him! He has to thank you...ha ha ha.
Imagine the Super Star thanking me for making IL's Super Star, Kamla, his fan!
Quote:
Kudos to you for drawing parallels with him and your story.
thanks, again, Kamla.

Quote:
And you know what Varalotti...If you are this untold villain, I am a villy too!!!! Whenever I have had a bitter show down with my hubby, I take secret pleasure in giving him the more burnt out papad while I take the nice golden one for myself! But hey...must mention that my papad then tastes awful...;)))))
the last eight words of this quote have shown us how loving a woman you are. Your husband is a very lucky guy. Not that his wife dishes out burnt appalams to him. But the fact that her golden ones taste awful for her, shows her love to him. Very few husbands in this world are that blessed, Kamla.

My Dear GFs,

You will hear about my next serial in IL very soon. I have been telling you all that it will be on Swamiji. But something tells me that at present I am not capable of handling that subject.

So the next story will be a fairly light love story. And for a change, it will be a straight love story. It could be a happy story. But I cant make any commitments as to the ending of the story.

I will come out with a curtain raiser as soon as I am done with the basic outline of the theme.

love,

Dear Varalotti,

Your best ever I read..

The first part of your thread itself qualified to be a nice thread. So, when it continued my happiness doubled. We feel very comfortable with people who accept us as ourselves or we should learn how modestly we can be ourselves. As I already told,
you keep messeges all over your posts. I cherished all of those.

Usually, people might want to do what you did. But, mostly comes the inhibition not to justify any hearty attempt. Your turned out to be a real superstar and showed a positive attitude towards life; an eye-opener for sure..

Thank you for the announcement of your next serial. Missed your last ones, as I couldn't find time to read at a stretch. Not a right excuse. Right? Sorry Varalotti. But, I wanted to speak the truth, just reading a related post. Hope to read sometime.

Want to say give us a good climax. But, don't want to set limitations for a good creator.

Once again...nice read...
