| Dear Sridhar, when we visited Delhi two years back, we spent half a day travelling by the Metro there, all the routes. It was a nice experience, well laid out stations, air conditioned coaches which were one single tube, automatic opening and closing doors, with announcements in electronic boards as well as audio of the arriving stations etc. The speed was also good. One portion was underground and another was over the city. The stations were also large ones with clean platforms and other facilities, lifts and escalators. It was hard to believe that we were in India. |

| Dear Varloo, I should congratulate you, for you have cleverly evaded the question, Will You Come With me. You have told 'I prefer train to plane and 'I prefer long distance journeys.' But still the title of the thread sits unanswered. Flight is beautiful in its own way. (Well, I am not talking about the stewardesses here) In some of the flights, Paramount for example, food is very good. Only thing is that you don't have a choice. And more importantly if you want to finish your food, you'll have to eat it really efficiently. In a flight, people are generally serious minded. Many work with their laptops. I never do that. But I can understand their work pressure. Normally you go to a meeting directly from the airport. But if you go by train you get down somewhere, bathe, finish your breakfast and then only go for the meeting. That explains their haste. Quite interesting to note that your honeymoon started in Vaigai. (Did it actually start in the train itself? Did they have coupe in Vaigai in those days. I dont remember) Anybody who loves food is my full blood relative. And those who don't love food are also my relatives. ha ha ha yaadhum oore yaavurm kelir. Now we come to the main question, Madam. Waiting for your answer. regards,

| Dear Indhu, OMG, I forgot! I am not going to chappakattify about you being a GF etc. But one thing I can say for sure. IL has got many moderators. But you are my only most powerful super moderator. All my writings go through you. And in the recent story you are editing I saw that you have crossed out many lines, saying that they are not all right. So madam, you are included in the term, "Moderators". But not IL's but my own. Thanks for the full confidence reposed in me. I will fully live up to the confidence. (Main reason: very few ladies have found me attractive in person. For who in the world will prefer a mofussil accountant with a paunch past his middle age travelling alone, immersed in a book?) Thanks for conferring the title madhura kala praveena, I'm sorry, SR on your DH. And you have chappakattified it with some good words. Quote:

| You are right, Swetha. That is the occupational hazard of being a writer!

| Dear Varloo, It was nice to read about your Delhi Metro experiences. I also had the same 4 years back. Two more experiences I want to share with you here. One is the MRT in Singapore. It is simply out of the world. When I visited the country recently, though I was eligible to spend on taxis, I opted for MRTs. It is very cheap, very economic. And it goes in all the three levels. On the surface, below and above. One rather unusual experience is the MRTS in Chennai. Recently I travelled from Adyar to Kilpauk by MRTS. Took the train at Kasthurba Nagar station and went to Fort. There changed lines and travelled back to Chetpat. The entire journey was over in 40 minutes. Against Rs 100 I normally spend for an Auto, I spent only Rs. 8 on the train ticket. You should use the Chennai MRTS once, especially in the non-peak hours. regards, Quote:

| My Dear GFs, What next, Varalotti? This is the question top most in your minds. And here you go. Will You Walk With Me? This is a walk, not only in the streets of Madurai, but also down the memory lane. Filled with sentiments, romance...... no.. no.. I don't want to spoil your suspense. Go ahead and read. love,

| Well, I said at the start itself that I love train journeys and that shows that I am ready to come with you. I am yet to travel by MRTS in Chennai- in our won place we do not go exploring usually. And another train journey which I just enjoyed so well (inspite of R having had an accident just when we started and was not able to move his leg) was the journey by the toy train to Ooty. We went in September 2 years back and in the first class front cabin. It is so very enjoyable with the staff standing at the front to guide the driver. I am looking forward to such journey by the trains at the North end of our country. There was no coupe in the AC chair car, not even now, I think. |
