Great point Paulina. Now, I think we have a balanced team. We have you, Anu (aproop) and Bhooma from India. We have Sriniketan, Sindhuja and Nandshyam from US.

However, the point you are talking about has even broader implication right? What about members from Europe, Australia etc. I am hoping that the new sub-forum have threads for universal discussions (discussions that are relevant regardless of where the member resides) and then have threads that are relevant to people in a particular location. Hopefully, you all will keep those threads separate so that the right people can participate and get benefit from the right threads. Thanks for bringing it up.

IL, that would be awesome, I thought just were starting this as a prototype.. I would love to see paw talk, meow talk all separate ;) mainly because I am not that big fan of cats u see

Valid point Paulina...This is going to be tricky, with different pet sections..

let me give it a try now :)

Only few sections are dependent on geographical location. Vet information, store pet foods, pet stores, medicines, right? Apart from that caring, exchanging breed details, stories and what not is common for a pet lover.

The major classification would start with the type of pets:

Example: DOGS, CATS, FISH, EXOTIC ANIMALS and OTHERS

Now have 2 major sections:

First one: Common for any pet lover to talk about their best pet, exchange information of breeds, taking care, stories, experiences, surprises, funny incidents, embarassments, what not right?


Second one:

There will be major sub sections

Sticky information and there will be threads of this sort:

Vet information

USA Vet information: -
This will have all the vet information in US of A,
Same way to all these places:
Europe
Middle East
Asia
India
Africa
Aussies and NZ

Store InformationUSA Pet Stores information: -
Same way to all these places:
Europe
Middle East
Asia
India
Africa
Aussies and NZ

Pet foodsUSA Pet foods information/Discussion: -

Awesome organization. This sub-forum is going to rock like anything.

One small suggestion. With respect to the local listings of Pet stores, vets etc, use the IL Directory. It is already classified into various regions/cities (and we can add to that list of cities as we go along).

The IL Directory is a lot more powerful for cataloging this type of information. For example, we can create a sub-category called "Vets" under each city and members can add entries for each vet under that. Members can also share their experiences, tips with each vet which will help other members in deciding.

When members ask "who is a good vet in...", you can always provide a link to the vet sub-category for that city and members can read and decide!
