Sub-Forum for Pets and Animal Lovers - Need Founding Members!

Thank you Sindhuja for becoming a founding member. I am definitely sure that a lot of pet and animal lovers will be benefited by this sub-forum. There is so much to share/discuss about pets. We now have 4 founding members. We need one more and then we will raise the curtains on this sub-forum.

Sriniketan, Nandshyam, Paulina and Sindhuja, it might be good for you to start thinking about the threads and discussions that you can start in the sub-forum and start noting it down. As a reminder, founding members need to start ~5-7 new threads and 25 new posts per week for a period of 1-2 months. Thank you FMs!

These are few threads I have in mind.. Let me know when the section is ready, I can open them :)

(1) A thread with all information from animal rescue, shelter listings, vet details, transport infromation etc
(2) Pet foods - Recipes, products, what to give when etc can be discussed here.
(3) Health Concerns. Since for now, its going to be a general term - pets and not specific as dogs, cats etc.. its great to have it under one thread, thus newbie can also get any information rather searching all over.
(4) Grooming - Wherever they are, they can give their experiences of places they took their pet, whats the cost, how often they do, did it control fleas etc.
(5) My dear friend - Experiences owning a pet and how it changed your life. Can be anything a simple lick from him or a walk with him when u are upset anything.
(6) Can have a thread to take about how you got your pet. Stories how you brought him/her home etc.

Hi Nandhu, Those were great thread topics. I am sure with this enthusiasm and interest level, you all will make the sub-forum a grand success. Regarding your point#3, I think that it might be best to keep threads specific to a category of pets - cats, dogs, birds and fish. That way, the thread is more relevant to the topic area and a person looking for information on dogs don't have to read through several posts on cats.

Hi Sindhu, Thanks for the enthusiasm. I am already seeing this sub-forum being a grand success. We need one more person to join us so that we can kick this off and get going. Lets wait for one or two more days, else lets go ahead and get started. Thank you.

Dear Indus Lady,

It was a pleasant surprise to know that you've counted me in as one of the founding members.I shall do my very best to sustain the interest of all stepping in here.I just noticed one point.The other members are from the US.We need to balance that by founding members from India so that if someone is looking for info regarding Vets or any other topic concerning pets the info posted by buddies from US will not be relevant here.Similarly with pet illnesses and how to tackle them may differ a little here and there, as also medications used by vets here ..Correct me if this view point is wrong.I was thinking maybe we need 6 members and the balance can be maintained.

I'm going to post a little write up about all the different pets we've had ...just to
entertain all animal lovers.

We can also add threads below in addition to what Nandhu has said:
1. Pet training
2. Introducing pets to IL community. This will be 'IL pets album'.
3. Different breeds and their behavior.
4. Pet loss and support
5. Fun : Sharing the funny events.
6. Cleaning and Maintenance: It's not easy to have animals. Let's focus on this part too.

Like Malathy said, we will open different threads for dogs, cats, fish, and birds.

Hi Anu, Thanks for the interest. Just for clarification, the intent is for each of the founding members to start 5-7 threads and 25 new posts per week. Once you get going on this sub-forum, this level of participation will come in naturally. As you said, try your best to hit it!

Bhooma, Thanks for the interest and glad that you finally decided to become a founding member. Don't hesitate. You have a natural passion for pets and given the amount of stuff there is to talk about pets, the contributions would naturally flow. I am confident that you will do full justice.
