    dear chitra,

Last :- U r the only person written about saint Thyagarajar!,, what a person he is, yes IS! My husband's great grand father was his sishya and we have the privilege of Having the idol of Ramar, Seetha, Lakshmana with Hanuman given by the great Saint. It is in our family from 200 years. we cherish this and pray a lot to him. the same idol is in the samadhi of the saint.,,,,,

you are a lucky fellow as a daughterinlaw in their family. no doubt god's blessings are always with you all.

    Bhaja Gaureesam
    [Pray Lord of Gauri]
    By Chinthamani

[This octet has similar refrain like the great Bhaja Govindam of Adi Sankara, It also is of philosophical import.]

    Bhaja Gaureesam Bhaja Gaureesam,
    Gaureesam Bhaja, Manda mathe.

Pray Lord of Gauri, Pray Lord of Gauri,
Oh slow witted one, pray Lord of Gauri.

    Jala dusthara jaladhi sutharanam,
    Dyeyam chithe Shiva hara charanam,
Anyopayam na hi na hi sathyam,
Geyam Shankara Shankara nithyam. (Bhaja Gaureesam….)

For crossing the impenetrable ocean of life
Keep in your mind, the feet of Lord Shiva,
For truly there is no other method,
Than singing Shankara, Shankara daily. (Pray Lord of Gauri…)

    Darapathyam kshetram vitham,
    Deham geham Sarvamanithyam,
    Ithi paribhavaya sarvamasaram,
Garbha vikruthya swapna vicharam. (Bhaja Gaureesam…)

    Husband, wife, children and wealth,
Body and house are all impermanent.
Know all these are the meaningless,
Dreams of the play of creation. (Pray Lord of Gauri..)

    Mala vaichitye punaravruthi,
    Punarapi janani jatarothpathi,
    Punarapyasa kulitham jataram,
Kim nahi munchisi kadayoscitham. (Bhaja Gaureesam…. )

Being in love with this impure world,
Would again make you be born in mother’s womb,
And if you again get worried by desire,
Why not tell your mind to leave away such thoughts. (Pray Lord of Gauri…)

    Maya kalpitha indram jalam ,
Na hi thath sathyam drushti vikaram,
    Jnathe thathwe sarvamasaaram maa kuru,
Maa kuru vishaya vicharam. (Bhaja Gaureesam…)

This world is a magical trick seen because of illusion,
And so do not see it as truth but as a mirage of sorts,
Once you know this, you will know that all are impermanent,
And so do not start thinking again of the things of pleasure. (Pray Lord of Gauri…)

    Rajjou sarpa bramanaaropa,
    Sthad brahmani jagatharopa,
    Mithya maya moha vikaram,
    Manasi vicharaya Baramabaram. (Bhaja Gaureesam..)

Like you see a snake in a rope,
You see the world in Brahmam.
This feeling of illusory attachment is a lie,
Think of this in your mind again and again. (Pray Lord of Gauri…)

    Adwara koti Ganga gamanam
    Kuruthe yogam cheindriya damanam,
    Jnana viheena sarva mathena,
Na bhavathi muktho janam sathena. (Bhaja Gaureesam…)

In spite of crores of visit to Ganga,
Doing Yoga and controlling of senses,
He who is not wise, all people say,
Never gets freedom form birth, even in hundred lives. (Pray Lord of Gauri…)

    Soham hamso bramhaivaham,
    Sudhananda thatwa paroham,
    Advaithoham sanga viheene,
Chendriya aathmani nikhile leene. (Bhaja Gaureesam….)

In the state of Hamsa when you become a part of Brahman,
You become the meaning of pure bliss,
And you become alone but realize that there is no two,
And the senses become dissolved in this Aathman..

    Sankara kinkara Ma kuru chintham,
    Chinthamanina virachitham ethath,
    Ya sadbhakthya padathi hi nithyam.,
    Brahmani leenobhavathi hi sathyam.

Hey Servant of Shiva, do not start worrying,
For this prayer which is composed by Chinthamani,
If daily read with pure devotion,
Would truly make you merge with the brahmam.

    enjoy ur pooja and reply?

Saniyai Pol Kodupparum illai, there is a proverb? He is the only person among nine grahas given Ishwara pattam, Most of the people Know about Thirunallar Sani temple. But there is a temple for Sani Baghawan, suyambu, at Kuchanur. (aka Shenbaganallur).

Sri Saneeswara Baghwan (Saturn) Temple – Kuchanur

Saturn is a powerful planet among the nine and subject people to good or bad effects and therefore gains importance in the life of the humans. Hence, it is a planet to be worshipped very devotionally for their wellbeing. They get relieved of the intensity of its effect and follow their professions peacefully and run the family in peace. People throng this shrine naturally.
    Prayer commitments:

Devotees light lamps with pure gingely oil and feed the crows. They also undertake feeding the visiting devotees. Donate for the maintenance and renovation of the temple.

    Reputation:
Though there is a shrine for Saturn in almost all temples, Kuchanur temple is exclusively for Sani Baghwan next to Thirunallar. Moreover, He exists of himself.

It is said that this is the place where Sani Baghwan himself got relieved of the Brahmmahathi dosha – a sin that affects a person for committing some serious crime.
A Shivalinga was growing upwards here and the growth was controlled by applying turmeric on the Linga. A very sacred place for relief from the adverse effects of Saturn. A large number of devotees visit Kuchanur to worship Sani Baghwan from Northern states too.
Kuchanur is 30 kms from Theni, and 100 from Madurai. Bus facilities are available from Theni. The nearest railway stations are Theni, Dindigul and Madurai. Nearest Airport Madurai.

    History:
King Dhinakaran prayed to God for a child. He heard a voice that a Brahmin boy would visit him and he would get a child then. The boy came and was named Chandravadanan. The queen also became pregnant and delivered a male child. He was named Sadhagan. As the Brahmin boy was wise and good natured, he was crowned the king of the land. It was during this time, the king had to face and undergo the Saturn period (seven and half years Saturn). To save the adopted father king from the consequences of the Saturn period, Chandravadhana made a Saturn idol made of iron and worshipped Him on the banks of Surabi river.

He prayed to Lord Saturn to protect his adopted father from the effects of his period. Saturn, responding to the prayers of Chandravadhana, got the King only for seven and half hours, instead of seven and half years. He also assured Chandravadhana that he would not harm people of just nature and reduce his effects to the most minimum. Chandravadhana built a temple for Sani with Kuchu grasses here, hence the name Kuchanur.

Let us pray to him and get his blessings. Most people do not know about this place.

    Neelanjanasamaabhasam Ravi Putram Yamaagrajam
Chaaya Marthanda Sambhootam Tam Namaami Shanaiswaram

    My salutations to God Saturn,
Who is the colour of blue- black,
Who is the son of Sun God,
Who is the elder brother of Yama,
And who is the offspring of Sun God and his wife Chaya.

    Thanumalayan Temple Suchindram.

The shrine dedicated to TRINITY is Thanumalaya's at Suchindram 14 Kms from Kanyakumari. The name Thanumalayan denotes the combination of the Trimurthis Sthanu is a synonym for Siva, Mal for Vishn and Ayan for Brahma. It is believed that the top, middle and base of the Linga in the temple represent Siva, Vishnu and Brahma respectively. Tradition goes that Indra was purified at this place and hence the name Suchindram. Suchi means Purity.

The temple here is noted for its exquisite workmenship in stone. It is a treasure houseof sculptures. The musical pillars are very impressive and some of the sculptures in the temple like Vigneshwari, the female form of Vinayaka and the scene of Geethopathesa to parthasarathi in the form of Trinity are rarely to be found elsewhere. Carved exqusitely out of a single block of granite, the imposing figure of Anjaneya, 18 feet height, is a product of marvellous sculptural skill. The gigantic image of Nandhi locally known as "kaalai" made of chalk powder is considered one of the biggest in India.

    rare? Manmata Gayatri Mantra

    Om Kama devaya Vidhmahe
    Pushpa vanaya Dheemahe
    Thanno Kama Prachodayath.

Om, Let me meditate on the God of love,
Oh, God who is the forest of flowers, give me higher intellect,
And let the God of love illuminate my mind.
