Dear Friends...... HAPPY NAVARATRI!!! I begin this write-up by saluting Maa Kamakhya Devi.......The Devi who reigns in Kamarupa- Guwahati, Assam.....The first Shakthi Peeth of Sri Devi........ May these Powerful, Varaprasadis of North East India bless all of us and our families abundantly..... N.E India is has a mix of varied cultures......Assamese,Bengalis, Nepalis, Naga,Mizo,Manipuri,Khazi,Garo,Jaintia,Arunachalis.....plus people of all parts of India.......... So, Navaratri / Durga Puja is celebrated very grandly ane each culture has it's unique customs to celebrate ....... I was blessed by Devi to witness and participate in Durga Pujas there...... The Nepalis ...they celebrate Puja in their unique way by Slaughtering Mahisha ( the Buffalo roop of Asura ) ...they carry the head dripping with blood and hailing Mahishasuramardhini.......Got gooseflesh seeing it....... The Bengalis.....Durga Maa's favorite children......they celebrate Durgapuja in a grand manner....Puja Pandals with special themes.....( from Tsunami, Golden temple, Himalayas.....you name it......!!!!)...., Magnificent Durga Murtis....., Anjalis, Dhaks....the special gigantic drums.....Dhunachi......dancing with the dhuna(Sambrani kalash).......Prasads..........Sindur khela and Visarjan........( Seeing off Devi)...They involve all the 5 senses into spirituality....no one can be without tears flooding from their eyes during Visarjan.......... My sincere prayers to the Devis of North-East India to bless us all this Navaratri..... Have a blessed Navaratri!
