Skanda Shashti and Vratham with pictures of Lord Muruga

Thanks a lot for all these information. I have taken skanda shashti vratham but I could not fast for all the previous 6 days. I just saw to it that I had my food after bath and also rice just once a day. Then on the day of skanda shashti I took fast.

I had taken shashti vratham i.e. 6 shashti's starting with skanda shashti. Normally we girls will not be able to continuosly take the shashti every month because in some months we may not be able to go to temple on the shashti day. My mom's friends told me that they take it for 1 to 1.5 years and only then sometimes they get 6 shashti's together. When I decided to take shashti vratham, my mom also joined with me. We started on skanda shashti. Almost everybody told me not to take kathina vratham at a young age but I replied that (or maybe GOD replied through me) if GOD also does not want me to take the kathina vratham then he will show me the indication and I will not be able to go to temple in one of the shashtis.

Then I took 6 shashti's. Lord Muruga was very graceful on me and he blessed me so much that I could take all the first 6 shashti's in the first 6 months. Even today when I think of that my eyes are filled with tears. I was really blessed.

After that I stopped but my mom took 18 shashti's. She still takes skanda shashti vratham every year.

The pictures are mind blowing, unfortunately i have not been to the main six temples of murgan. Have rarely visited kukke subramanya and gatti subramanyam.

Mom is a huge devotee of murgan, and i myself wanted to visit palani long back, hopefully by god's grace i could do it with my family this year.
