My frank opinion is to buy salt on the 9th itself cos salt originates from the sea, and Goddess Mahalakshmi resides in the sea. More over when u are buying salt specifically for this purpose, better to avoid on the 8th. Buy salt on the 9th itself..What do u say? :rolleyes:

அட்சயதிருதியை

அட்சயதிருதியின் நோக்கமே பிறருக்கு தானங்கள் கொடுக்கவேண்டும் என்பதுதான். குறிப்பாக சொல்ல வேண்டுமானால் இல்லறத்தானின் (சிராவகத்தான்) கடமைகளில் ஒன்றான துறவறத்தாரை ஆகார தானத்தால் தாங்குதல் ஆன “விருந்தோம்பலை”க் குறிப்பதாகிறது. ஆனால், அதுவே பின்னாளில் நோக்கம் மாறி தேவர்களால் பொழியப்பட்ட விலையுயர்ந்த நகைகளை மக்கள் தங்கள் வீடுகளுக்கு அள்ளி சென்றதை எடுத்துக்கொண்டு விட்டார்கள். அதன் அடிப்படையில் அன்றைய தினம் நகை வாங்கினால் செல்வம் பெருகும் என்ற நினைப்பில் செயல்பட தொடங்கிவிட்டார்கள்.

தானம் போற்றுவோம்

பண்டிகைகளின் உண்மையான நோக்கத்தை அறிந்து, ஏழைகளுக்கு தம்மால் முடிந்ததைக் கொடுத்து உதவுங்கள். அதனால் அவர்கள் மனம் குளிர்ந்தால், தன்னாலேயே நம் செல்வம் பெருகும். அப்படி முடியாதவர்கள் ஏழை சிறுவர்களுக்கு கரும்புச் சாற்றினையாவது கொடுத்து "அட்சயதிருதியை" கொண்டாடுங்கள்.

And my father used to say Kuchela gave 'aval' to Lord Krishna and got 'Sakala Iswariyam' and in that day one must do pooja for Lord Shiva, Lord Sriman Narayanan and Lord Sri Lakshmi.

அட்சய திருதியையில் என்ன செய்ய வேண்டும்?


அட்சயம் என்றால், ‘வளருதல்’ என்று பொருள். சித்திரை மாதம், வளர்பிறையில் வரும் திருதியை நாள் அட்சய திருதியை. இந்த நாளில் எந்தப் பொருள் வாங்கினாலும் சிறப்புதான். அன்று, தான தர்மம், புதுக் கணக்கு ஆரம்பம், கல்வித் துவக்கம், விரதம், தெய்வ வழிபாடு ஆகியவற்றை மேற்கொள்வது உத்தமம். இப்படிப்பட்ட அட்சய திருதியைப் பற்றி புராணக் கதைகள் பல உண்டு.

ஏழ்மையில் வாடிய கண்ணனின் நண்பர் குசேலர், ஒரு பிடி அவலை எடுத்துத் தனது கிழிந்த மேலாடையில் முடிந்து கொண்டு கண்ணனைச் சந்திக்கச் சென்றார். குசேலரை வரவேற்று உபசரித்த கண்ணன், அந்த அவலை எடுத்துச் சாப்பிட்டபடி, ‘‘அட்சயம்!’’ என்றார். உடனே, குசேலரின் குடிசை, மாளிகை ஆனது; குசேலர் ‘குபேர சம்பத்து’ பெற்றார். குசேலருக்கு, கண்ணன் அருள் புரிந்தது அட்சயத் திருதியை திருநாள் ஆகும்.

கண்ணபிரான் அட்சய திருதியைப் பற்றி, தருமருக்கு ஒரு கதை கூறியதாக பவிஷ்யோத்ர புராணம் விளக்குகிறது. அந்தக் கதை:

சாகல் என்ற நகரில் தர்மன் என்ற ஏழை வணிகன் ஒருவன் இருந்தான். தெய்வ பக்தி மிகுந்தவன். அவன், வருடம் தோறும் அட்சய திருதியையின்போது புனித நதியில் நீராடி, இயன்றளவு தான தர்மங்கள் செய்தான். இதனால் மறு பிறவியில் அரசனாகப் பிறந்தான். அப்போதும் அட்சய திருதியை திருநாளில் தான தர்மங்கள், யாகம் ஆகியவற்றைச் செய்து மென்மேலும் சிறப்பு பெற்றான். உடல் நலம் பாதிக்கப்பட்டவர்கள், அட்சய திருதியை அன்று புனித நதியில் நீராடி, தான& தர்மங்கள் செய்தால் உடல் பிணிகள் நீங்கும்.

இந்த நன்னாளில் சிவ&பார்வதி, ஸ்ரீமன் நாராயணன், ஸ்ரீலட்சுமி ஆகியோரை பூஜித்தால் சகல சௌபாக்கியங்களும் கிட்டும். அன்று பித்ருக்களுக்கும், மறைந்த முன்னோருக்கும் சிராத்தம், பூஜை செய்தால் பாவ விமோசனம் பெற லாம்.

கர்நாடக மாநிலத்தில் உள்ள பெண்கள் அட்சய திருதியை அன்று சுவர்ண கௌரி என்ற விரதம் கடைப் பிடிக்கிறார்கள்.

அன்று, கௌரி எனப்படும் பார்வதி தேவி தனது பிறந்த வீட்டுக்கு வருவ தாகவும், மறு நாள் அன்னைக்குப் பாதுகாப்பாக ஸ்ரீவிநாயகர் வருவதாகவும் ஐதீகம். திருமணமான பெண்கள், இந்த நாளில் சுமங்கலி பூஜை செய்து, மற்றவர்களுக்கு ஆடை வழங்குவது வழக்கம்.

ஸ்ரீபரசுராமர் அவதரித்ததும், கிருத யுகம் தோன்றியதும் இந்த அட்சய திருதியை திருநாளில்தான். அட்சய திருதியை அன்று ஏழைக்கு ஆடை தானம் அளித்தால் மறுபிறவியில் ராஜ வாழ்வு கிட்டும்.


தயிர்சாதம் தானம் செய்தால், ஆயுள் பெருகும். இனிப்புப் பொருட்கள் தானம் தந்தால், திருமணத் தடை அகலும். உணவு தானியங்களை தானம் செய்தால், விபத்துகள் அகால மரணம் போன்றவை சம்பவிக்காது. கால்நடைகளுக்கு தீவனம் அளித்தால் வாழ்வு வளம் பெறும்.

First of all thanks for stepping in to post your comments. My kolgai is "Nalladhu yaar sonnalum kettukkanum". In that case where is the question of mistaking u?
Thanks again for sharing the links. Very informative & elaborate . Basically I dont have much liking towards gold ornaments..I would be the last person to buy gold..For those who prefer can go in for gold ornaments but I started this thread to give an additional info of buying salt on AT day..

Thanks for all the valuable info. In our town in the Hindu temple, on AT they have arranged Vishnu Sahasranam to be recited 11 times by all. Is this also customary?

Nice to c u here..Reciting slokas in general is good for oneself and for the family. There is a saying that reciting vishnu sahasranamam and lalitha sahasranamam is equal to reciting all the slokas. Custom varies according to the place we live in.

The more and more people participate in reciting the vishnu sahasranamam, the vibration is more.

Thanks for the valuable information. Tomorrow is also my son's birthday - so I will be reciting many prayers. We have also arranged for some annadhanam to the workers of an aprtment complex nearby. There are two huge complexes coming up nearby and we (few friends of ours) have arranged to make food (for about 300 people) and take it over.

whenever you are able to buy, you can buy. But as per your idea I will buy salt on that day. That is Friday. Correct?
