Thanks again everyone! My relationship with my in-laws right now is very positive, and I'm sure it has to do with the success of their visit here. There's still some issues to be worked on, like in every family, but my husband has told me that his mom (who is now at her daughter's house) has said something like having to do all the work at her daughters' houses and that the only place she got to rest a bit was in our home. That makes me very happy, to know that she can see our home like a positive place and an easy experience.

I'm just wondering how I am going to keep it up next time they visit, especially if we have a small baby, but we'll cross that bridge once we come to it. I'll be counting on your advice once that time comes too! (Also, how to tactfully let her know that I will prefer to be alone with the hubby for the delivery and a few weeks before and after).

Marisa - I just came across this thread that you started in May - it was wonderful to read it from start to finish - you went from being confused what to expect to someone very confident! Am very impressed by the effort you took to accomodate you in laws and their needs. I am sure you will have a very loving relationship with them - as to how it will be when you have children, don't worry - think you already have won them over. The baby will only be icing on the cake!!

Take care..

Shobana

Thanks Shobana, I can't truly complain, things are going great, especially now that I'm expecting. My SILs have been really sweet telling my husband to be extra nice to me :D Also, we managed to find a very traditional Sanskrit name that fits our really long list of requirements, so I think my in-laws will be truly happy when they find out. I hope so.
