Forced to pierce the nose!!!Anybody else???

Hi,

I went for an engagement last week...

I know the bride to be - a bold ,cheerful,intelligent and modern girl from

her childhood.

She was looking a bit tensed and worried...

When I enquired the girls aunt abt it,

she told me that it was the attitude of the boys

mother - they wanted her nose to be pierced as it was the done thing

and preferred to do it right after the engagement ceremony.

The nose pin and the Achari-(the one who does the piercing job were there

already.)

She did want to have it dine on the first place-

She felt it is being imposed on her without her consent

and the boy did not react to her protests at all...

On the contrary joked(MOOKANAN KAYIRU PODA PORA!)

ANd relatives and friends have arrived for the function

and the girls family had no option but to subject her to it ,

fearing misunderstanding from the scratch...

Has this kind of nose piercing been imposed on any one else u know ?

Or any such a thing been imposed on U???

When my mil suggested this to me I outrightly said I am not interested

and it ended there-NO COMPULSIONS

I just pity her shakambari!!

Even my mil asked me and I said no. More than me my Dh was not at all interested..

Ya....so sad for her...

My MIL forced us celebrate a ceremony in a function hall....we did that...but we had some cold war...

hmm i guess some people take gals and their parents for granted.my mil suggested it looks good on me .i said i dont like it and even my DH said its old fashion and she can neither take that pain so she kept quiet

too scary....

In fact I had told my Dad very clearly that I don't want this nose piercing thing. If at all anybody demands it, then it is a clear 'No' from me...

thankfully I did not go through this..

I still feel your friend and her parents should have said a clear 'No'...This is just the beginning..just imagine what all she will have to go through once she is married...

No neither my parents nor my MIL ever force me to do these things. My MIL even suggests that we go for gunshot (for ear piercing) for our DD instead of in temples to avoid infections.

My MIL requested us 'not' to pierce the nose. i was not planning to anyway . My daughter's ear piercing, let's just say i would have done things a lot differently now.

Aww.. thats really sad, the girl should have put her foot down, dnt know how educated and working girls giving to these things...

Yes its a custom in our in-laws plc as well... I know my co-sis had to get it done.. and when they asked me I simply sd no.. My mom and dad where like its just a piercing get it done ... but its abt whether I like it or not, I clear told i will not do the nose piercing if they want I will put a artificial nose ring, for which they agreed

my co-sis created a rucus ... I can understand her she had to go thru it ... newasy you should
forced to these things.

It is indeed a real pity and shame. This was just the engagement and she was forced to pierce her nose. What next after marirage?? Imagine her situation, she not willing to do it, parents not with her on this and even future hubby. My heart goes for her.
If it is 'just a piercing' then why should it matter so much??

Yes I was forced to go for ear piercing day before my marriage. My friends suggested me to call inlaws and request them saying I dont like it. BUt they strictly said NO and you should have one before marriage. so I went for one. My face looked so different during marriage. Everyone made funny comments about that. I hated my IL's from that day onwards. I kept it for few months after marriage and when I came to US I removed it. when I went back after 1 year they forced me again . I had second nose piercing done during that time.
Now after 7 years of marriage. I removed it and I wont wear it I strictly said them now. they dont like that but I dont care....

You dont know how much I hated nose piercing stuff....
