Why should you bother? You are just not about how good you cook. You are more than that and you can only feel pity about women who hold cooking as if it defines womanhood itself.

Here is my experience -
I like my SILs for what they are.. I dont have anything against them. My MIL often appreciates my SILs cooking skills and their skills on all household work. She thinks it is a mothers duty to teach her daughter all this at the right age. There were taunts that I was taught to cook before marriage. I used to cry earlier but I grew up to think boldly that thats the fact and they cant brood over it as they knew even before our wedding that I dont know cooking. So whenever my MIL praises my SIL, I will only add more fuel to it. Then MIL will stop it for the time being. Sometimes when my MIL will be upset with my SILs, I take that opportunity to remind her 'Oh, she cooks so well. You have taught her everything.'.. my MIL will say to me 'for a girl, cooking well alone is not enough.. she doesnt know this and that...' call me wicked??!! I am not, I am just helping her think broad! Next time, I will see some improvement in her comments.

thanks for decoding .once i asked my brother about these. he laughed and said you are my Ds and i am your DB.all mils are same they think their brought up is best.before marriage i am not at all interested in cooking .heard so much comments ,wept a lot .learned cooking.now i am best in cooking.my sil's sons and daughters praises me a lot and supports me before my mil and sil.but the time passed away is so pain ful.now i am thinking why we women try hard to get some compliments.in one positive way the pain ful comments makes me to improve my self in education and getting a job

blood is thicker than water. just as your mil praises her daughter (she has known her all her life), ask your brother's wife (if you have one), your mom must be praising you too!! it is the cycle of life, simple human nature when you are a new DIL for the family to see your faults or inadequacies faster than your plus points... these good things take time to dawn upon them.
until then, patience is the key... if they dont learn to appreciate you for "what you are, what you have done and can do the family", unlucky them... ignore... let not the situation of hearing a MIL praise a SIL or cosister bother you... it is not worth it... ,
anyway, i am sure you know your strengths and weaknesses, these are innate attributes and do not depend upon the inlaws praising you...

Hey...
i m newly wed but still there are countless occasions when my MIL praises my SIL.
1. My SIL is 3 years older than me but still not married. They are searching for groom for her desperately. But Still my MIL keep on telling me that how beautiful is her daughter and its very difficult for them to search an equally handsome boy.
2. They are telling lies in their matrimonial profile about the height of my SIL. i m taller than my SIL by almost 4 inches. But my MIL claim that she is 5'4 but she is hardly 5'2 as i m 5'6.
3. My SIL has done MS from US but she is jobless but my MIL keep on telling me that how difficult is it to do masters in US. i m MBA from a top college of india but they never count it as a achievement.
4. Once my MIL said that she will take dowry from the boy to whom she will marry her daughter as she is beautiful and priceless. OMG she took dowry from my parents... does she mean her DIL is not that worthy.

Hey you know wat!!! My Dh is the only child but I face another kind of outage...
her friends &their DILs make the best dishes
their DIL are SOOOO religious ( we belong to inter religion marriage)
Their DIL are SOOO friendly and laugh and talk to my ML and keep telling her to re-visit
even her friends maids are better than mine
Just smile all and sundry is better than their own DIL...
be happy and IGNOREEEEE them
