What's so shocking about it? I honestly dont get it.....Anniversaries are for you and your DH - why do ILs have to give you anything at all?

Hi,

Dont feel bad about it. May be they dont have any practice of giving costly gifts in their family. Even in my case, my parents family will give costly gifts in birthdays or anniversaries, but in my inlaws family they wont give any gift on such occasions except blessings. It all depends on their way of practice and living, so dont take it to heart and be happy.

Paru.

I agree with Kavi and Vanathi..

There are people out there, who don't care if you celebrate your anniversary or not and even worse make it not happen for many DIL's. May be you are blessed to have a lovely In laws to think and gift you something.

Also, this is something for you to celebrate romantically with your hubby. why worry what others gift you - yes in this - only u and ur hubby should matter - everyone else are - OTHERS

Congrats !! and enjoy your anniversary !!!

Take a chill pill my dear! And consider urself lucky too! There are quite a few out here, who receive nothing! And moreover, I've always believed that its not the gift that matters, its the thought, no matter how small or big it is!

Hi

I dont know why we always associate gifts with something very expensive like dresses or jewellery.

For my first birthday after wedding, my husband was in US on deputation and I was in India...You know what my MIL did..

She did not buy any dress or gift.. INstead she had arranged a suprise web chat at a nearby internet center, spoken to my hubby and asked to take off on that day.. and when I came back from office .. she took me to that browsing center.. I was so surprised and overwhelmed by this idea.. I spoke to my hubby for one hour and was also able to see him through webcam...

Now do you think a dress or jewellery would have made me more happy...?

As Ank rightly said it is the thought that matters..

Dont worry about these small things and enjoy your anniversary..First marriage anniversary is really special.. dont spoil that by worrying about these trivial things..

Congrats..!

Hi.....

I am shocked to read your post too. Bhut bura hua tumhare saath.

A healthy relationship is not about gifts only, its about the sentiments and respect.

Wondering who is most lucky in this relationship now.

Regards
