    Hi All,

This my receipe out of Watermelon. Once we eat the watermelon, thick green part of the Watermelon usually thrown. Here is the Palya/side dish out of it.

    Ingredients :

Watermelon left (white) part - 1
    Green chilles - 2 or 3
    Tamrind paste/ juice 1 to 1/2 tbsp
    Jaggery - 1/2 tbsp
    Turmeric - Pinch
Red Chilli Powder 1/2 to 1 spoon ( as per yr spice level)
    Salt

    Seasoning :

    Red Chillies 1
    Mustar 1/2 Tbsp
    Urad dal 1 Tbsp
    Curry leaves - few strands
    Oil 1 Tbsp

    Method :

    1. Peel green skin from the Watermolon. Chop it into 1/4 " pieces.
    2. Do the Seasoning - Heat one teaspoon oil and add and toast tadka ingredients - Red Chillies, mustard seeds, Urad Dal and
    curry leaves.
    3. Add the green chilles & chopped Melon. Cook for few minutes.
    4. Add Turmeric, tamrind, jaggery, red chilli powder and salt . Cook for a further couple of minutes.
    5. Serve it with Rice & Rasam/ Dal.

Quick question.. you had mentioned white and green ... not sure which one to use.. the whole green part or the white part inbetween..

thank you soooo much. I had done a similar recipe before from a blog but was breaking my head trying to locate it. I have saved the white part and will try this recipe. I read too that the white part has most of the nutrients...

Nandhu, Even a simple raita with this cube steamed will taste good. Experiment panni paaru.

    Good luck :)

    Hi All,

Thanks for reply. Sorry could not log in Y'day.

Nandshyam : Green Part is the skin which has to be peeled. Red part of the watermelon is sweet which we as fruit. Below that white layer & skin is there. After eating melon remove the skin & use it for this receipe.

    take care
