Best way to store coconut

    Hi latha,

    at times me too have faced problem storing coconuts when i was in US. Mostly i used to get them from indian or chinese markets rather than american stores. Sure there must be a difference in the texture. But i havent tried storing for more a weeks time . As you said i used to cut into pieces, dry well, wipe with a tissue and store in fridge. Luckily i had no problems.

    Hi Mangai,
    Break the coconut and take the pieces("chillu" in tamil) and put in freezer ziploc bags.It stays fresh for a month and longer.If the quantity is more divide and put into 2 bags.
    It thaws very quickly.Keep it out for 5 minutes and wash with warm water.Its ready for use.
