I have a food processor that I was presented a year ago and I feel I am not using it enough. Please advise on how it can be used for indian cooking. Thanks in advance.
I use it very much. For kneading dough for atta, roti, bread etc. Grinding for vadai all kinds of vadai. Making Pesto Making bread crumbs Making chutneys shred veggies sometimes hope this helps
How do you use the FP for kneading dough?...the only attachments I have are the usual blade used to process and a shredder/slicer disc.
what is the use of the mixers the nice ones like kitchen aid? In food channel they use them to mix cake substances.
I use my kitchen aid for mixing batters for cakes & cookies and kneading dough. It's great since I don't have to stand there with a hand mixer.:thumbsup
Dear Manaswini, This is how I knead atta in a food processer. Fit the metal blade, add the atta, salt, oil/ghee if you add( I don't ) and run it for a few seconds. Now run the food processor, and while it is running add half the water and then pour water slowly in drizzles. The atta will form and will more cleaning the sides. At this point stop pouring water and run it for a few seconds. Stop the food processor, apply some flour in hands and collect the dough from the food processor. Chitvish has given a lot of tips on kneading atta with various gadgets - http://www.indusladies.com/forums/352403-post2.html Hope this helps. -Gayathri.
