Warning - Typing on mobile Advantages - very fast at higher temp it is hotter than the stove's largest burner!!, separate counter space so keep cooker on it and you can finish other dishes at the stove without the cooker blocking you! Simmering can be done at a heat lesser than stove's smallest burner! Even kids can switch off or you can put timer! Disadvantages: Milk/dal/tea. Etc may burn or overflow if you turn away for a second Doesnt work with inverter! Have to get induction friendly cookware
Yes.. Couple of steel vessels work if they are Electromagnet friendly. Few dont. You need to check individually with all your woks and utensils. I have been using since my hostel days 7 yrs ago to now post wedding too! I use induction stove more than the gas burner.. NOTE: Cooker and Tawa have to have an induction base and also check for diameter of the tawa before buying. One Tawa, one wok, one cooker, milk cooker, one small bowl, one big bowl: I manage with just these many.. And buy a good one! Prestige has accessible service centers. So that is good. Though there are many pre-set option for frying, steaming, cooker etc, i just mange with only power up power down button. Very easy. The top is made of glass I guess. So you cant bang vessels on it even if you are hurrying or angry! :biggrin2: Its pretty expensive to replace! Go for it!
Hi namshara , thanks for the information . Normally i prefer gas and wanted to keep the induction cooker as an emergency for when the gas finishes half way through the cooking . Are the steel vessels with flat double layered base suitable ? You've been away for quite sometime . How are you these days ? Settled ?
Hi stillwaters, Ordinary steel utensils can be used, but they tend to burn the dry foods and overflow the ones with more liquid. So I would recommend using sandwich bottom cookware like Vinod, Praylady and Bergner. I purchased all my cookware from ebay. Google them to get an idea! I also mainly use gas for cooking and had purchased induction more as an emergency help, but after using it I found certain advantages. 1. It cooks a lot faster than ordinary gas, so helps when I have to save time. 2. Food stays warm longer when cooked and kept on it. 3. I find frying on it better than gas because it fries faster and consumes less oil. Hope this helps!
Yes suits very much. But when it comes to kadai and tawa it has to specifically be induction friendly. And yes. I am all settled. Calm mind-->browse thru' other IL topics. Needing to vent--> back to all time savior "Relationships" forum!
