I use Lipton green tea, i had hot water to 1/4th mug, sugar or honey and tea bag after water absorb the contents in the tea bag and sugar/honey dissolves, i will add enough hot water.

(Note: I took a tea making class in Hong Kong that covered this.)

Green tea should be steeped and not brewed and the water should be at 80C not 100C. The initial brewing of green tea is much shorter than subsequent times (Chinese when using loose tea use it all day and just adding a little fresh tea if it is too weak.) In Chinese formal tea ceremony they also rinse the tea initially...pour water on it and drain as this will get rid of bitterness but most people don't do this on day to day basis. If you use a bag, just don't steep it too long as green tea will get bitter if left. Electronic water kettles will have settings for green tea temperature. You can also add thinly sliced ginger and some honey when steeping....that is really good.

If you add 2 cardomoms then the aroma will be superb and tastes better.

priya, as tashi says the perfect green tea is when you steep it at 80degrees. boil your water, allow it to cool for a minute or two and then steep. if you are not used to the bitter taste add some honey.

i do use tea bags. but i find the leaves are more economical. i have my own flavors prepared at home with the leaves. i store in three bottles. i add dry zest of lemon and dry ginger for lemon flavor. powdered elaichi into another. another is mint and orange. i like the flavors. you mix them to the tea leaves and the leaves absorb these flavors. add the same to your water and allow it to rest and you have wonderful flavored green tea.
