Ok Lets share your plan for Chaturthi Recipe…Now days we get so many brand Readymade Rice flour for making Kozhukkattai/Modaks so, what’s your plan for filling??? 20 Types of filling for Kozhukkattai… Traditional Filling: 1. Sugar, Sesame seed (Ellu), Cardamom and Scraped Coconut 2. Scrapped Coconut, Powdered Jaggery and Cardamom powder. 3. Boil and drain Chana Dal, Cardamom and Powdered Jaggery 4. Slightly boiled Moong Dal, Cardamom and Powdered Jaggery 5. Boiled Moong Dal, Scrapped Coconut , Cardamom and Jaggery 6. Boiled Moong Dal, Scrapped Coconut, Cardamom and Jaggery 7. Slightly boiled Moong Dal, Sesame Seed, Cardamom, Scrapped Coconut and White sugar. 8. Boiled Moong Dal, Sesame Seed, Cardamom, Scrapped Coconut and Jaggery. 9. If you Get Karuppati, just alternate it for Jaggery, it tastes yummy 10. Fried Gram powder(Pottukadalai), Scraped coconut and Jaggery Innovative Fillngs: 1. Make a filling with tutty fruity’s…Kids will love it. 2. How about a Filling with Dates. 3. Filling with Raisins, Nuts , Scrapped coconut and Jaggery 4. Filling with Tutty fruity, Dates, Nuts and little bit white sugar. 5. Filling with Dates and Chopped Almonds. 6. Filling with White Chocolate and Tutty Fruity. 7. Why don’t you fry Modak’s,…use Maida for outer covering, fill it and deep fry. 8. Why do you want to fill just sweet?…this time try to fill Sweet corn masalas and make fried Modaks 9. Filling with Date, Fried gram powder and Scrapped Coconut. 10. White Sugar, Fried Semolina (Rava), Coconut and Dates. Few tips: Do not pressure cook moong dal for filling, just boil for few seconds. Consistency would be when you press it in hand it should get split into two. Powdering Cardamom would be easy if you add a tablespoon of sugar with it. hi magee nice ideas for filling i wanted to add another tip to powder cardamom i peel the cardamom and fill them in the pepper grinder and put the peels in tea leaves container. whenever you want just grind it over the dish you want.
Magee,thanks for the filling tips. I usually do with roasted peanut powder,jaggery and cardamom power or with coconut jaggery and cardamom powder filling.
