hi all rice cooked in the rice cooker is getting spoilt if it is left in the pot for the next day can any of u pls let me know of a tip with which the rice doesn't get spoilt
Dasikaj, It's always preferable to transfer the cooked rice to a air tight container and stored in fridge for next day use. If the rice left in the same cooked pot the starch residue get spoilt and whole the rice will also get spoilt.
You should lessen the quantity of water required to cook rice in this season so it will not get spoilt. I leave it in the cooker if am going to use the rice next day otherwise will put it in the fridge.
I agree you should lessen the water used to cook rice in summer. Also do not touch the rice with hands while serving or transferring. Do not use spatula too much. Just take from one side the required quantity. stirring or disturbing will cause the rice to spoil quickly.
one more sugesstion is if u have two vessels of rice cooked at different times of a day, avoid using same spatula for both.if u want to keep the leftover rice for next day without keeping in fridge,u can make curd rice and keep it.for preparing curd rice, add lots of milk, little curd and salt to taste.this works.
One suggestion, do not cover the rice with air-tight lid when the rice is warm. This will let the rice "sweat" (water evaporates and and drops in back into rice spoiling it sooner). Getting a lid with holes or cooling down the rice before closing is better. Also while keeping anything in fridge, let is cool down first, so that it wont "sweat"
