Is it possible to steam a soft sponge cake using idli cooker or steamer? I tried once but the flour didnt rise at all.. Can somebody tell me a proper recipe for a soft sponge cake?
In the cooker, do not add water. first keep a small vessel upside down inside the cooker. and upon that vessel, place your cake container. now close the lid and do not keep the weight. the heat comes from all the directions and the cake is baked. put it in high flame for 20 mins, then simmer for 10-15 mins. in b/w you can open the lid for checking. here you are using the first vessel, so that the cake doesn't get direct heat. hope you got it. this is how i bake all the cakes and even biscuits without using a microwave or a cake cooker.
