Dear ILs, I thought of sharing my cooking adventures (;P) in this thread. Pls don't worry, i will only post those recipes which I prepared and got appreciation from my parents (let me say so.. ) . Cauliflower + Capsicum Fry: Items required for the preparation: The Vegetables - Cauliflower and Capsicum - Slice them to thin / smaller size Salt (as required) Turmeric Powder (1/4 Spoon) Red Chilly Powder (1 /2 Spoon) Black Pepper Powder(1/4 Spoon) Coriander Powder (1/4 Spoon) Sambar Powder (1 /2 Spoon) Oil (4-5 Spoons) Preparation: 1. Mix all the powders (quantity - as required, but I had mentioned the quantity that I used) 2. Transfer the sliced vegetables to a bowl and mix it with the powder from Step 1. 3. Keep this mixture aside for 15-30 mins. 4. After a while fry this mixture in Oil. Let it fry well until the vegetables are cooked. Stir it throughout the cooking process. 5. In case you feel that it's not spicy enough , you could add chilly powder while frying it. and also add salt if necessary. Note: I haven't used water for cooking this vegetables. This can be a side dish for Chappathi, Rice, Puri etc.. Try it out and pls let me know your comments..

Mom's recipe - Idly Podi. Ingredients: 1. idly rice (uncooked rice used to prepare idly) - 1 cup 2. Dhoor dhal - 1 cup 3. Horse gram - 1 cup 4. Roasted Bengal Gram - 1 cup 5. Red Chilli - as needed. 6. Curry Leaves 7. Cumin Seeds - 1/2 spoon 8. Coriander Seeds - 1/2 spoon 9. Asafoetida - few pinch. 10. Salt - as needed Preparation: Step 1 : Saute following items separately in dry pan and keep it aside. Note: items should turn to crispy texture and also be cautious it shouldn't get over burnt to black. 1. idly rice 2. Dhoor dhal 3. Horse gram 4. Roasted Bengal Gram 5. Red Chilli & Curry Leaves 6. Cumin Seeds, Coriander Seeds , few pinch of Asafoetida (at the end only) Step 2: Grind the mixture Now, let the sauted items to cool off and add required salt and grind them finely. Idly Podi is ready now..! * Can be used as Side dish for Idly, Dosa by mixing it with Oil or Ghee. * Simply mix this powder & Ghee with hot Rice, and Podi rice is ready to serve..
