Heat oil in a pan, add the mustard seeds, slit green chillies, curry leaves, fry till the seeds start spluttering, add salt and turmeric powder and cubed potatoes, add little water so that the potatoes absorb the masala and simmer for 4-5 minutes till well blended. For a different taste you can substitute mustard seeds with cumin seeds.
Great recipe,however do try my version if you want to have a taste of andhra cooking. Peel, chop the potatoes into small cubes & immediately add to water to prevent them from blackening.Heat oil, add mustard,cumin seeds & let them crackle.Add curry leaves,chopped onions,chopped green chillies,peeled and lightly crushed garlic. Cover & fry on a medium flame till the onions are nicely transparent.Add the potatoes & mix well. Fry for a while (do not cover) till nicely cooked & fried till light brown. Add salt, chilli powder, turmeric powder & fry for a min.serve with rice.
