Hi all This is a recipe I borrowed from my mil . Quite delicious and somewhat has a different method of preparation from usual ones. Ingredients: 1. Green moong dhal - 1 cup 2. potoato - 1 medium 3. Tomato - 2 4. Onion - 1/2 5. Sambhar powder/red chilli powder - 2 tsp 6. jeera - 1/2 tsp 7. pattai/cinnamon - 1 small piece 8. coconut - 2 tbsp 9.tamarind - very little 10. Red chilli - 1 (optional) 11. Mustard - 1/2 tsp 12. Coriander leaves - for garnishing 13. lemon juice - 1/2 tsp 14. Salt - as per taste 15.Oil - 2 tsp 16. Water - approx 1. Soak the green moong dhal overnight . 2. In a pressure cooker take moong dhal and add chopped tomato(one) , chopped potato(chop it to medium sized pieces) , sambhar powder/red chilli powder, water and cook it for 3 whistles.(don't add salt) 3. Meanwhile grind together chopped onion , chopped tomato(one) , pattai/cinnamon, coconut , jeera , tamarind , red chilli(if u want more spice) to a smooth paste. 4. In a pan add oil and when hot add mustard . When it splutters add the ground paste and let it cook for 5 to 7 mins in medium flame. add salt. 5.When the raw smell disappears add the cooked contents from cooker to this and mix it well. 6. Let it boil for 10 mins and if required mash some green moon with laddle to give extra thickness to gravy. 7. Add finely chopped coriander leaves and put off the stove. 8.Just before serving add lemon juice and mix. 9.Serve it with Chapati/poori or can be had with plain white rice too. :thumbsup
Wow Great receipe But instead of adding lemon juice at the end, add some lowfat fresh creams ( half cup) and mix, it will have a nice flavour and taste.
