Hi smartgrl,

1. Wheat: yes the whole wheat (as in grains)
2. Yes it is also called Daliya
3. Sabudana: yes again you are right, it is javarisi
4. Red Rice: This one I do not get it here, so I skip this.

Oh..i think redrice means "puttu arsi"in tamil
we get here in US in chinese stores as wild rice

another question ptamil,

when you mention 2 glass and container size?? and also if its0.5 glass then quarter of the portion regarding to wheat gains is it??

no matter waht measuring glas we use still the ragi proportion remains the same 1/2 kg?

Did i get it right??

I generally use the 1 cup measurement , but yes Ragi can be 0.5 kgs

Hi Ptamil,

I make this kanji everyday for my 2 year old son and It takes like atleast 45 mins as my son like it thick.Also it easily gets burnt even if i am not at the stove for 3 mins.

You said that you use Electric cooker. How often do you need to stir it and does it get burnt? Can you get thick consistency if you use electric cooker.

Kriyog,

It never gets burnt when kept in low flame and I think I stir may be once in 5 minutes while jogging

We dont have it too thick but not too think either. The right consistency makes it easier to gulp it down.

Try like approx 150 ml of water, 2 heapful spoons of the kanji mavu, and the same 150 ml of milk. Add jaggery and cardamom

When before putting it on heat, stir it well so no lumps are formed. This way it will not get burnt
