I thought to post a couple survival bar recipes that I have collected in the past for those who want to make their own survival bars. These will be good keepers so good for any travel situation. If anyone has additional recipes to share, please post to the thread.

    Probars:

    Makes 12 servings

    3 eggs
    1/3 cup honey
    5 tablespoons whole wheat flour
    1/2 cup ground sesame seeds
    1/2 cup ground sunflower seeds
    1 cup chopped nuts
    1 cup toasted wheat germ
    1 cup sweetened flaked coconut
    Preheat oven to 350F.
Beat together eggs and honey until thick. Then blend in the remaining ingredients. Press firmly into a greased 8" square pan and bake for 25 minutes or until light brown. Cut into 12 bars and let cool.
Freeze any bars you want to save for a later outing.

    Logan bread:

this recipe supposed to sustain 2 men for 16 days.
    1 quart water
    4 pounds whole wheat flour
1 1/2 pounds raw sugar or brown sugar
    12 ounces nonfat dry milk
    2 tablespoons baking powder
    2 tablespoons sea salt
    2 cups honey
    1 cup blackstrap molasses
    1 1/4 cups oils
    1 cup sesame seeds
    1 1/2 cups wheat germ
Mix all ingredients together very well. Turn into greased roasting pan. Bake at 300F for about 70 minutes. Cut into squares. Let air dry at room temperature until squares are semidry.
