What is the rough kola powder made of?

    Hi,

    I live in US and in india while some use just rice flour for kolams, there is this rough kola maavu which is easy to put - the vendor sells in roadside.. I'm a begineer and could never put rice flour kolam but the rough one is easy. what is that?

    what is that made of? can we make it ourselves in US?

    I think that one is a lime powder dont think anyone make that in home
    Drawing with rice flour is the best thing as the original idea is to feed the insects and ants

    Its pretty difficult to draw lines using store bought flour you can make the flour using raw rice at home by using a blender and sieve to the required texture/fineness u r comfortable with

    Am doing it the same way for the last 12+ yrs
