Hello everyoen I am Sridevi Diwanji. I am from Mumbai Maharashtra.. I am here only to share my ideas and thoughts. My discussion would be on rangolis
Rangolis are artistic imagination of any women. We always create our own designs, with catchy color combinations. Rangoli is an ancient tradition followed over years and years in India. The thing is most of us do not know from where actually this ritual of drawing rangolis started. History has many theories regarding the origin of rangolis. The Indian scriptures and puranas can be attributed for the emergence of this creative art. It is believed that this art form is originated from the Indian state of Maharashtra, from where it gradually dispersed in other states of the country.
According to the earliest disquisition or treatise on Indian painting named Chitra Lakshana, a king and kingdom were extremely grieved as the king’s priest’s son died. Everybody along with the distressed king offered prayers to the creator of universe, Lord Brahma to grant life to the boy. Being moved by the prayers, Lord Brahma asked the king to paint the likeness of the boy on the floor so that Brahma could breathe life into the portrait. Thus the relieving the entire kingdom from this sorrow and pain. This portrait is considered to be the first rangoli. This mythological tale is considered to be the scriptural evidence of this art form. Another legend says that, God in one of his creative mood extracted the juice of a mango and painted a portrait of a beautiful woman. The portrait was made in such a way that put all the maidens in heaven at shame. This portrait is believed to be the origin of the creative art form, rangolis.
Rangolis are called in different names in different provinces like Kolam in Tamil Nadu, Puvidal in Kerala, Alpana in Bengal, Muggu in Andhra Pradesh, Mandana in Rajasthan, Rangvalli in Maharashtra, rangoli in Karnataka, Saathiya in Gujarat, Chowkpurna in Madhya Pradesh, Ossa in Orissa, Sona Rakhana in Uttar Pradesh and Aripana in Bihar. The significance of the rangoli remains the same in every province.
In Hinduism, every religious tradition or gesture is symbol with deeper meaning. Rangolis are not only meant for beautification of home but also to keep the evil forces away from your house. The reason why rangolis are considered auspicious is positive as well negative energy dwells in the atmosphere. They seek refuge when provoked by us. Thus, the elder people in our home advice us to invite positivity through positive thoughts. We have observed that the rangoli designs are complicated. This is because negativity that is in the air gets entangled in the complexity of the rangoli design and fails to enter the house. Hence rangolis absorb evil and prevent negativity from harming us.
Hence the basic implication is that rangolis are created as an epicenter of positivity in our home, also a symbol of good luck in our home.
OHP Rangolis is a new upcoming trend, in cities. People will use OHP rangolis, diyas etc to decorate their house...this a new concept and a very creative one..
As many people dont have time to make rangolis or many people dont know how tobmake rangolis...OHP rangolis are at rescue...
Another reason for this trend is, in cities people dont get enough place to make rangolis, also anyone can easily rub the rangoli. OHP rangoli is very handy, durable and also you get a variety of designs and colors.

OHP Rangoli is another name for creativity , tradition and ohp rangolis.

I am going to talk about OHP Rangolis. OHP Rangolis is a new modern rangoli. This is the new fashion or trend in south India and rapidly spreading in all parts of India. tleast in Mumbai a very working city is now adopting this.
OHP is a transparent sheet wherein kundans are attached to create a beautiful rangoli with innovative and creative design. The different shapes, colours and size attract women. These rangolis can be used during festivals, Puja's , to give gift's or for any other auspicious occassion.
Now these rangolis came in to being due to various reasons like:
Now there is buliding system and rangolis can not be created outside the flat because of limited place, also the garbage pickers rub the rangoli, and sometime there is a rule in a building that rangoli should not be created outside. At our home due to white tiles rangoli can nit be seen and in tamil homes they make rangoli with rice paste which once drawn on a floor sticks there for a long time and a lot of strenth is needed to remove that rangoli. And talking about stickers after some time there show goes off and while removing it the floor gets damaged. Also in today's modern world women have no time to make rangoli or don't know how to make one. And during festivals or any other occasions we actually don't get time to make good and big rangoli.
These are the common problem faced by us, a for that OHP rangolis are very much useful. They are creative, elegant and innovative. I now always use them during Ganesh Chaturthi, Diwali, Gudhipadwa and for many other festivals.
And also many people got attracted towards it and they started asking as what this rangoli is....These rangolis are very handy and are mobile and durable. You are your own creative, you can uise as many ohp rangolis you want and can make a big rangoli in no time.
Last month I had my Father-in-laws Sahastra Darshan that is celebrated when one turns eighty.we had a huge 8 days program at my house, as many people were going to come so i decorated my house with OHP Rangolis and while Puja's I used them too. It was very welcoming to the guest and all were refreshed with this.
I was introduced to this rangolis by my aunty. I purchased these rangolis from Nikita Creations who make these hand made rangolis. also these rangolis are of gud quality and with affordable price as I belong to a middle class family, I thought the rate would be high, but it is substantially low.
I shared this cause many women face the above problem, it is a story of every women.
Also I will share OHP Rangolis pictures.
