    great tips. but why cant we grind the soaked rice and stored the powder? and whenever need to use it for kolam, mix with water and its ready.

    Yes.From my grandma we learnt it.and store that maavu for that year long requirement.

    FOR ME, POWDERED RICE DOES NOT STAND FOR LONG TIME . IT TENDS TO GET WORMS. But in crackled cake method it lasted even for three years. And when kolem is drawn , it looks like as if made with fresh ground flour.
