Kolams drawn during MahaRudram :-)

Hello ... :hiya

Recently i had a wonderful oppurtunity to take part in a MahaRudram pooja(combined with few other poojai like ganapathy homan,Dampadi poojai etc) that was conducted by my whole family(DH's side)...i personally was very happy to do some personal contributions from my side to god in the form of kolams...all kolams that were drawn in the mandapam were done by the ladies of our family alone...

Initially we(6-7 ladies) drew 120 small sized kolams for the dampadi poojai...then we drew 250 small kolams in the dining hall for the dampadis to sit...at last we were asked to draw all big kolams(strictly only padi kolams allowed) in front/sides of the mandapam...i had taken some printouts of padi kolams of mine and also from net and that helped the ladies a lot...

i was extremely happy when the elderly ladies selected me to draw the kolam(big one) in front of the mandapam :banana...i was actually so very scared to draw as i have never drawn a padi kolam outside my house and i am still in the learning phase and that too with wet flour :spin...the floor was very rough and half of my nail(ringer finger) came out because of constant rubbing on the floor while making all kolams but i was very happy thinking of my contribution for god.. :-D

please have a look at the kolams

First letme start with mine...I drew this at the entrance of the hall with wet rice flour...

I dint try a complex design as this is my first big(really big for me) padi kolam with wet flour ..actually when compared to the kolams that others drew(all others were super seniors and experts in drawing these padi kolams) this looked a little simple....but then i was happy for 2 reasons
(1)i took no help at all
(2)and i believe even though its a simple kolam,i have tried my best to maintain the length and symmetry of the kolam...

Ofcourse i received a lot of compliments too
The tulasi pot was kept inbetween my kolam ..what more can i ask :-D

Next is again my kolam,medium sized one that was required to be drawn in front of a small ganapathy idol..

 

Next letme show the creations by other ladies of our house...

This was made by 1-2 elderlady lady/ladies of our family...lovely,i just could not stop keep gazing at this kolam thinking of the perfect symmetry





this kolam was drawn by my co-sis(cousin)...

 

These were done by the younger generation(<30 years) ladies...they are kolam experts :-D

 

these were done by my younger sister...she too is a learner(infact beginner)...i just loved the way she participated in this event

This again was drawn by a male member of our family for the pooja...with rice flour,kumkum and manjal(haldi)...even the decoration for the deepam was done by the same person
