    I clean my swamy lamps once a week. Please advise how to make it shine, what materials I can use ?

    Generally we use tamarind and salt to clean the lamps. Tamarind removes the oiliness and the soot. Gives an added shine to the lamps too.

    Try using lemon with salt...this also works....however most of the time i tried what geevee said tamaring with salt...when its not available i use lemon with salt..

    In India, there is a specific cleaning powder (Pitamber) available for cleaning the silver and copper utensils.

    For silver lamps, use toothpaste with extra whitening. It gives a wonderful shine to your silver. I usually keep a separate tube of toothpaste just for my silver sami items. For copper you can use tamarind with salt.

    Even i heard, tooth paste gives good results. You should try and let all of us know if it worked :)

    I clean with surf, then with Pitambari. If u do not have pitambari, u can try any abrasive powder like rangoli powder o vibuthi.

    For brass soke it in tamarind paste for one hour then clean it with sabena using tooth brush. If you are cleaning every week (for three or four weeks ) clean using baking soda with venigar then water wash .

    For silver took paste brush it it will shile

    For brass...I use vinegar with salt for silver toothpaste...
