Hello Harih Sir
I have been going through this thread silently for past couple of days.
You have mentioned to read the last Dashakam daily.
In the www.narayaneeyam.org website they have uploaded the PDF in 100 Dashakas.
The 100th Dashaka is the one that we need to read. The name of the dashaka seems to be different than what you mentioned.
Please give me the sloka with which this dashaka starts and I will search for it.
Also like how there are EK sloka bhagavatam, ramayanam.... etc is there a similar one describing the essence of Narayaneeyam.
Dear Guruvayoorappan Bhaktas,
First of all, my apologies for this delay in replying to your queries. It's been a while since I last visited this thread.
What you have mentioned is very true even in my case. Lord Guruvayoorappan has this mesmerising quality of leading one to him. Even in our family, while the Kula deivam is Amman, we are equally devoted to Guruvayoorappan from as far back as I can remember. By reciting the last Dashakam daily, you have made a very good choice, there's nothing like it in Bhaavam, in Paandithyam or in Aatmasamarpanam as portrayed by great Melpattur Bhattatiri.
As regards your query on detailed instructions on various Dashakas, I will write more in this thread soon. I have really experienced some of the highest bliss while chanting Narayaneeyam with my family members and others. Hence I consider myself blessed to write more about whatever I know, as well as whatever I have learnt from others.
The 100th Dashakam deals with a description, from head to feet, of the Divine Roopam of Guruvayoorappan as HE appeared in a vision to the author. Hence the Dashakam is often called Keshaadipaada varnanam (As, in Sanskrit Kesha means hair and paada means feet). The first slokam in this Dashakam starts with 'Agre Pashyaami Tejo' ..... and the last slokam starts with 'Yogindranaam'...Hope this helps you.
Hi Sri Harih
I am very thankful for the detailed description that you have given on Narayaneeyam.
Sri Harih, where and how I can find the meaning of the Dashakams? I am told that there is a certain chapter for leg pain like Vadham, for marriage, ownhouse etc.
If you know, can you kindly post here?
Thanks and Kind rgds

Hello Harih Sir
Thank you very much to reply.
I will try to find the right chapter with information given by you.
Thank you and pray for me that Lord Guruvayoorappan gives me his blessings to start on this task and continue. Because I think everything is directed by him.
If you know Malayalam, the best commentary I can recommend is the one published by Guruvayur Devaswom, written by Pandit P Gopalan Nair, and entitled 'Vanamaala Vyakhyanam'. There's another excellent commentary by Sambasiva Sasthri but it is currently out of print.
I have no idea about specific benefits associated with chanting individual chapters. But certainly improvement in health, and recovery from diseases could be possible, as tradition says the author recovered from severe Vaatha rogam after writing/chanting this work.
For specific Kaarya siddhi, I myself resort to Sundara Kandam recital. But that's just by the way and not that Narayaneeyam cannot be chanted, as the grace of Sri Guruvayoorappan is unfathomable.
I am very very happy entering here and read all the contents. I am lucky enough to learn N arayneeyam, and we (our group at Chennai) made narayneeyam pooja 60 times and each
and every time it is being done like a little kalyanam.
Without Guruvayurappans grace it cannot be held.
We had faith in it.
I am expecting a little Guruvayurappan from my daughter in laws stomack soon and visited over here (At USA) and chanting make her sit near me.
Harih Thanks for all your proper guidence.
dear Sri Hari,
I am very much interested in learning narayneeyam. I am really really searching for a guru who will be more actively teaching and imparting the knowledge and god bless, I have found one-you. I am in Ashoknagar area of chennai . Actually I was searching for narayneeyam material in Google & the search landed me in ur thread in Indus ladies. Hoping to reach u fast & learn narayneeyam and get blessed by Guruvayoorappan.
god is great.
to all those who have doubts on reading narayaneeyam.....i dont follow such time as to when to read it....or when i take breaks while i read it...the reason is very simple....
1)if u recollect the story of narayana battathiri turning down poonthanam's offer to revise njanapanna,it is said guruvayurappan appeared at the dusk at battathiri's residence and showed the errors with each stanza....
i strongly feel when we are praying to the ever merciful guruvayurappan only the devotion matters....not the methods u adopt to follow it....
he l c ur heart at morning noon or dusk.........
Dear Mr. Sri Hari,
I am just a beginner in Narayaneeyam. Beginner in the sense, only by going through the threads here in Indus Ladies and other blogs i got the knowledege of how to start reciting the Narayaneeyam. Then i was searching in internet for an audio file which will be helpful for beginners like me as i can pronounce the same without any mistakes. But i was not able to find an audit file consisting of all dasakams.
I went through KS Chitra's Narayaneeyam songs (Over 5 dasakams was covered in that file) and one other video posted in youtube by name sajeevsihvan consisiting of first and last dasakams. That was good
If anyone in this thread, can tell where i can find an audio file of all dasagams with clear voice it will be great help for me. I came across in one of the blog about Dr.Sukumar Canada, he has uploaded all the dasakams.
If any one needs the same, you can search in google as Sukuar Narayaneeyam then you will get the link. But i need some other link with still more clear and slow voice than Dr. Sukumar's Narayaneeyam. Kindly help me
