By what time we have to light the lamp in evening

    Dear Members,
    I heard that we have to light the lamp evening in puja room.During to sun set we have to light the lamp( by 5.30 to 6.00 p.m), but in my place sun set around 7.00 to 7.30 pm only.I wish to know when i have to light the lamp.(ie 5.30-6.00 or 7.00-7.30).

    One Ghati and 15 Vighaties before the sunset period is known as Sandhya Kaal... (30 mins time)
    The rays of the Sun will be so malefic and in order to reduce the malefic effect of the sun rays, it was practiced to lit lamp before the sun set time. If Sun sets exactly at 7.00 pm, Lamp should lit by 6.30 pm.
    If the Sun sets at 7.15pm, lam should be lit before 30 mins, i.e. 6.45 pm.

    Hi malaswami,
    Very good information and thank you. Here during summer time, sun sets around 9pm. So, I guess the same rules apply too ie at least 30 minutes before sun set?

    What about in the mornings then?
