Would husband and wife reunite again in next life?

Is it true that husband and wife will keep reuniting again and again no matter how many rebirths we take? Would at some births the husband be born as the wife and vice versa?

If that's the case, how about those who remarry after their spouse's death or those who remarry after a divorce?

dear sadwife,

it is believed that we keep coming to this again and again in order to:

fulfil our karmas and pay our debts to each other (karma bandhanam).

to learn our lessons so as to help in our spiritual journey towards perfection.

there has been a spate of recent studies and books based on this research, which gives evidence for rebirth, but the subjects of the research have remembered relatives/friends from last life coming with them in this lifetime, maybe in the same relationship or even a different relationship. e.g. a daughter from last life could be a niece, nephew, son ... in this life time. it is not necessary that the relationship remains constant.
